Description
Now that my Enterprise is almost ready I thought I'd take her for a spin.If you are a fan of the new warp effect in the 09 film then this is warp.
If you are "old school" then this is a hyperslipstream portal (or some such...)
The funky warp portal was created out of clouds and water and rendered entirely in Vue with the ship.

Pretty slick recreation man, the fsct that the warp effect is self made adds to the uniqueness of the pic. 10/10

Indeed! But did they actually have seat belts in the film? I cant remember, must watch it again I guess....

Well they did in the shuttles, so that's a start at least.

It is. I think it wont look right if they are all strapped in , there will be no one flying accross the bridge dramatically as consoles explode behind them... Seriously why put explosives behind the computer consoles on the bridge, just asking for trouble (see all of Star Trek episodes that have the ship damaged in any way

Well at least they explained why the bridge is at the top in such a vulnerable position, but when the window started to crack they probably had their second thoughts about that too!

Nice effect. I know Vue and it's really brilliantly done. I haven't seen the new warp effect yet, although, I admit, I am probably old school. We'll see.

Thank you very much. I tried a few things and this was by far the most successful! The new effect in the film is a little more subtle than mine, but artistic license is a powerfull thing!
Vue has so much power to render really mad stuff, 3dsmax had a fit, then gave birth to kittens then crashed when I tried something like this.
I do enjoy doing unusual stuff with Vue. And so far it has been most accomodating. I will be attempting some explosions and such in the next few weeks!
