Description I need more IZ art ideas!   I might do some more simple drawings just for the heck of it. Here I wanted to draw using only two complimentary colors for the entire image, and ended up using three. I just 'happened' to choose red and green because I was sketching Zim eating a strawberry, and then I realized Zim himself is already green and red... I wanted to use colors that DIDN'T match him already to add more of an abstract quality to it, but whatever. I probably could have painted his eyes green and skin red instead to achieve that effect, but it didn't really occur to me at the time. For the background, I used the colors that were already on my gradient without thinking, and the red here looks to pink. So this looks very watermelon-themed instead of strawberry woops.

I was trying to go to bed earlier tonight for all kinds of reasons, and I'm writing this at 2:03 am Somehow your senses go kind of awry while trying to complete an art piece with a sensory-deprivation documentary ironically playing in the background.

Oh yeah, and I finally learned how to add a yellow outline to my drawings, thanks to teaching me. Thanks!

Haha! I keep thinking about doing something like this again using three or two specific colors!

We had to do this as an assignment in my art class last semester. It's actually really easy. You just pick a few colors (you can start with five if you're worried), and then take their relative values and replace them to the relative values of the actual drawing. So for example, using the colors yellow, red, and orange. Yellow is a bright value, and would be used for things like highlights. Red is a dark value, and would be used for things like shading. Orange is a value between yellow and red, so it would be used as an "in between color" like base skin tone. Using five colors means you would have a shading color, half-shade, middle ground, light, high light. You can also adjust saturation and such on the color to change where you want to use it. a.k.a, use a yellow but make it darker to use for shading, and then use a red but make it brighter/less saturated for a highlight. Hope that helps

IK I love that character paradox! All the characters and the art style are so cute and chibi-like...and then you actually watch the show itself and realize there's this huge theme of dark comedy all around it. This is the only show I know that actually goes through so much effort to put stains and dirty spots all over the background objects, just to emphasize how disgusting the place is even WITH that amazingly dark and gloomy color scheme!

Well, Zim WAS learning to eat human food and was getting pretty good at it by the end of the show without barfing All foods have *some* kind of water content. He was eating syrup with his waffles, I don't know how watery that is but it wasn't totally solid either. In one of the unfinished episodes, he was eating Chinese noodles. We never saw if it was the kind with juice or not, but if it was, then that would be a ton of pure water in itself. In any case, the noodles needed to absorb water to soften, so it isn't as if he's completely incapable of consuming water. He just has to adjust to the chemicals in it

AHHHHHHH ZIM LOOKS SOOO CUTE HERE!!!
I mean really, that face and him suckin' on that strawberry
The little menace always looks so innocent in your drawings
I think the color scheme is just delightful in spite of you wanting a different palette.
This is so bright and interesting to look at and almost tropical!
One of my fav and most eye catching settings
AWESOENESS!!!

Strawberries make everything more innocent, if you do it right! I DO draw him too innocent though, I need more evil Zim drawings to counteract it, but I can't help but be a sucker for Zim's inherent cute features. His eyes are so BIG and those antenna.. I want to pet him! I can't look at him and remember at the same time that he's probably crunched thousands of murders in his life, and nowhere near stopping... that little bundle of youth at it's finest.
I think tropical is a good word for it, I was thinking it looks kind of fruity hehe, thanks <3
