The Jug, Middle Island Creek in Tyler County WV is an island shaped like a jug, surrounded by a horseshoe bend in the creek created by this low water bridge built in the late 1800's.

The low water bridge becomes a falls when the water is normal to high. The creek horseshoes around the jug shaped land mass in the back of the photo, flowing up the creek on the extreme left and coming back down the outlet on the right.

After taking this shot, I carefully eased my way out the rock ledge on the right to get close-ups of the water on the falls. I stepped over a small snake on the way, the first one I've seen this spring. As I was taking the next photo, something hit me hard on the back of my leg. I thought for sure it was a snake, but then I turned and saw more rocks coming Glad I got out of the way because the next rock was the size of a breadbox
