Description Just got around to taking some pics of the current incarnation of my home studio. As you can see, Im almost at peak capacity and basically playing IKEA-Tetris in order to maximize space. Im not sure how well the over-all layout comes through in the pics but my actually drafting table is in the back on the other side of the large book shelf.

And yes, dusting is a bitch. I know every other comment will mention this so there it is.

I rarely use it at all unfortunately. I initially got it to play around with, learn to color, and learn ZBRush. I learned to color but, sadly, just havent had the time to play around with it as much as Id like to. And no, I have never and never will ink digitally.

So would u like to try digital and compare the artwork and then comment changes and feelings. When i start inking traditionally i was told that my bosses have no money to pay pencillers abi i should do inks only in digital. And everywhere there are only digital inkng needed(((((or u have to to ink like ur level. So what could u advise with ur vision and exp?

Ive interest or need to ink digitally. Why would I? It takes the same amount of time and, when Im done, I have no original to sell. Why would I waste my time like that? On top of this fact, you lose a TON of life and energy in the digital process. I know maybe 3 or 4 people who can ink digitally and retain life to their lines.

Ive never heard of anyone requiring something to be inked digitally. I know a lot of guys do it to cut corners and save time (the worst of digital inking) but Ive never heard of an editor who gave a damn how its done, as long as it gets done.

Ultimately, its a personal choice. Some guys, very few, do it digitally and do it well. The vast majority do it and get by with it. The books come out on time and the editors are happy. The art looks like crap but, with some, thats an acceptable loss. As an artist who cares deeply about quality and a as a business man who likes to make as much money as possible, I have yet to find one reason to do it digitally that makes any sense to me.

I totally agree with each u word but could u tell who is good in digital inking?? Mark brooks. And who else? U know i think that no one can digitally ink as good as u do in traditional way man. I wish sometimes u make gnomon workshop tutorial where all artists can listen to ur comments. It would be inking bible. Such as joe weems gnomon dvd tutorial

Mark pulls it off well but I think his work looks stronger when inked traditionally. Off the top of my head, Greg Capullo is one of the only guys Ive seen pull it off and retain that energy of line. He does this by basically inking on the screen, using the stylus to actually throw each and every line freehand, the same way one would when doing it traditionally. This is basically the only way Ive seen it pulled off and, even then, I ask you, why? If youre doing the EXACT same thing on the computer screen that you would be doing by hand, why not have an original to show for your efforts? Thats money in your pocket. In many cases a LOT of money. Using Greg again as an example, he pencils traditionally so he does have an original but most collectors prefer and will pay more for a finished piece of art. I get that inking digitally might be "cleaner", less of a mess to deal with (inking can get a bit sloppy at times). The one obvious answer that I cant argue with is that perhaps some people simply enjoy inking digitally more. Maybe they just cant stand to do it traditionally. THAT I can understand. Beyond that, though, it just makes no sense to me. Again, Im speaking of the people who either do it well or close to well. The other guys are mostly hacks that ink digitally because theyre too lazy to do the work it takes to get good, to master their tools. Its a lot easier to just use a computer program to cover up the fact that they cant throw a clean line to save their lives. Its just a shortcut, the artistic equivalent of a fast-food-burger......IMHO of course.

Thanks again for the props. I absolutely loathe working with people watching me. The idea of inking on camera gives me the douche-chills. Joe's video was brilliant. Theres nothing I could add to what he did in that video. He nailed it.

Iagreewith u it makes save money and it look clean because artists have little skill to show good result traditionally

Well Mr Tim its the great pleasure u answer me. It is so luck me as beginner inker speack with u cause i ve never seen such skills as u. The thinks u do is so......im not sure there are many people who can do same thing. And no shance ask u critic my artworks cause u are 2 bussy. But im sure somewhen many years ago a person who taught u draw ank ink as the best one. So could u tell me who is the man who taught u? And if u know about Chris Bochalo...
If i could i spend all my money to meet u and pay for classes. Even u could do it with inet and skype but im not sure u need it))) so that from field of irony.
The history remembers u as the man who brings a lot of live in comic art.
So i cant chat with u on facebook...have u ever been in marvel office or u work in freelance???

The guy who taught me, initially, was Dan Panosian. I started out in comics as an assistant to he and Art Thibert. Ive learned a ton from Dan over the years.

Though Ive worked out of my home all these years, I have been to the Marvel offices on numerous occasions. Its been a while, though.

Whatever... my floating heads Hellboy is awesome.
And when I can afford a shelf, and a place to put a shelf like an apartment or room or something,
I'm gonna put him on it. RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE.

Hehehe I just had this awesome flashback to the day he arrived in the mail from EBAY, and I ripped open the package, sat him on a pink my little pony and ran down the hallway at Seneca making whooshing and laser sounds.

It was the most awesome day that year.
OF ALL THE AWESOME DAYS THAT YEAR!
