Being based on the M6A2 heavy tank in early 1944 the M6A2E1 was requested by the Ordanance Corps as an experimental tank. Fifteen were ordered, and the major features the tank had was a T29 heavy tank-style turret with a large turret basket, new 190mm thick sloped frontal armor, removed hull machine gun, and the T5E1 105mm gun mounted in the new turret with a turret ring of 2032 mm (80 inch). All this increased the tank's weight to around 77 tons, and reduced it's speed to 29 km/h.
Major General Gladeon M. Barnes Seemed worked directly on the tank, and on Jul 31st had wok on the tank moved to General Electric. Wellman Engineering Company was chosen to manufacture the 15 new turrets.
On August 18th 1944, General Eisenhower sent a letter from London calling for the cancellation of the 15 prototypes. This killed the program, yet the tank's design would be use din future design primarily the T29/T30/T34 heavy tank series.

The *possible fake?* is there since I couldn't find any photographs of the M6A2E1 with the sloped frontal armor with only World of Tanks having the tank with sloped armor.
