Description Richard was built 1923 in the LNER, he shunted trucks and coaches to the big engines, then, in 1925, he was sent to Sodor to help in the shunting yard, he worked on the old Arlesdale, Wellsworth and East Coast railway, but in 1930, due to budget cuts, the railway was closed, some were sent into other railways, and some were scrapped, but then, Richard then served the North Western Railway, he was allowed to keep his coat of blue paint, and he was given the number 53, first, he was bullied by the big engines, but when Gordon found out that Richard was from the LNER, he stopped bullying him, now, he works not only as a shunting engine, but he also works in Ryan´s branchline.
