Description NOTE: This is actually fanart for this great Fakemon blog on tumblr, by BoltBeam! boltbeam.tumblr.com/post/54023… This is the original, and you can go to his account from there. Check this stuff out! He doesn't have a dA account from the looks of things, so do give it a gander. ^^

This was DEFINITELY one of my faves, and I just had to draw this beautiful little baby when I saw it. ;;

--------------

Sarkrend
The Gorgonoid Pokemon
Poison/Rock

Paleozoic Entry: Sarkrend can emit a noxious poison smoke which "petrifies" its target by covering it in a stony film, which makes the target appear as if it had been turned to stone. All Sarkrend have a bite strong enough to bite through this rocky film.

Mesozoic Entry: Sarkrend have a strange stinger at the end of their tongues, which they use to immobilize their prey by injecting them with its Petrification Poison. Causing its limbs to lock up long enough for Sarkrend to finish them off.

Cenozoic Entry: Sarkrend have evolved without eyes, as selective breeding had made their poison gas strong enough to consistently rot their eyes away until later generations did away with eyes altogether, instead relying on smell, taste, and touch.

Sarkrisis
The Gorgonoid Pokemon
Poison/Rock
Paleozoic Entry: Sarkrisis were the apex predators of the Eocene epoch. Their smoke is dangerous enough to legitimately turn prey into stone, and their teeth are more than strong enough to bite through stone, as well as steel and diamond.

Mesozoic Entry: Sarkrisis have a light-sensing organ on the tip of their tongue, which has also evolved to grow a grasper which is used to hold prey in place long enough for them to finish them off with one bite of their enormous jaws.

Cenozoic Entry: Sarkrisis are closely related to the Hippopotas family, and are actually unharmed by Ground-Type attacks. They even bury themselves with dirt or sand, to lie in wait while their tongue's sensor organ scouts for prey.

This family of Pokemon had gone extinct, as selective breeding had made their petrifying toxins far too strong. Each new generation of Sarkrend were killed off earlier with their own poison, with new Sarkrend generation dying younger, until the entire species was extinguished by their own selective breeding habits.
