Something new!
I saw some beautiful polymer clay covered journals and I just had to try to make one myself. I write a little and I know first hand how vulnerable and self conscious someone can be about it, so making this one for my friend I put two quotes I found fitting on the covers :>. I hope she will have it always with her to write all the new ideas for fanfics and original fiction alike
The journal is around 10x15 cm. The cover is made of precolored metallic polymer clay, Swarovski crystal and a few vintage zirconias. It's painted with protective varnish.
I loved working on it and I think I will try to make a few more for my etsy shop, every one with different quotes and designs

If you don't mind my asking, how did you attach the polymer clay "faces" to the covers and spine of the book?

So, the actual journal cover was in fact thick paper with white and maroon stripes and first I had to paint it black, then paint it with flexible laquer. I paited only the parts that are visible from under the clay and I left the rest as it was. I used the whole tube of super glue to attach the clay parts to be sure they will NEVER come off XDD.

Well, for starters, what kinda tool do you use for the settings of the crystals? I assume it's cut from the sheet as a tiny disk then you punch a hole into it, because all the Mica in the silver clay makes it impossible to do it otherwise... All the details you do are FREAKING TINY OAO. I wouldn't be surprised if you said you use sewing needles.

I push the zircons into the sheet and then cut around them leaving a milimeter of silver clay

Yes, it was baked before I glued it, but I painted it with varnish afterwards

Breathtaking! The quote on the back is equal parts inspirational and amusing. The whole piece is absolutely lovely. I'm not a writer but it makes me want to write!
