In my DC headcanon, Katar Hol instead of Carter Hall rescued Charley Parker when he attempted suicide by jumped off a bridge.

Charley was very surprised, since he's always idolized Hawkman as a kid. After landing, Charley told Hawkman about what led him to that moment: he's an orphan who lives with a family that acts as a front for a drug cartel, living the life of money and fast cars, and then he was kicked out and replaced with a younger kid now that Charley reached the age of 18. Katar feels empathy for the boy, since he do had a very bleak part of his life around 18 when he accidentally killed his father and had taken him almost a decade to heal (as shown in Hawkworld mini-series #2).

This what made him decide to offer him a job working at the Midway City Museum, where he's the curator under the alias Carter Hall Jr., and his wife Hawkwoman/Shayera Hol as co-director Shiera Hall. Katar tells Charley that he's an acquaintance of Carter Hall Jr. Hawkman and Charley would have developed a strong friendship, especially after Charley helped the Hawks fight off the Shadow-Thief, while at the same time discovering their secret identities.
