I wouldn't say she's appropriating a culture since the Total Drama Wikia confirmed that she's Bi-Racial.

Yeah I'm aware of that fact, but I have a hard time accepting it. Mainly because Fresh came up with that fact 'after' the first episode was leaked and everyone was calling out Laurie for her offensive design. So it feels like a last minute save to avoid more criticism on Fresh's part.
Also, there are other ways they could have shown Laurie as biracial without that design. Ex. Sierra was a black/dark skinned girl who confessed to having German grandparents in World Tour.
