Happy Year of the Monkey! Here's one of my favourite monkey characters - Sun Wukong from Journey to the West as the self styled Monkey King aka "Great Sage, Equal of Heaven" Having taken the Golden Banded Staff as the weapon worthy of his abilities from the Dragon King of the Eastern Seas, he also demanded a suit of golden armour to match with phoenix feather cap and cloud walking boots before challenging the Jade Emperor and causing havoc in Heaven (what an arrogant jerk, but an awesome one at that!)

The story is one of the great Chinese classics: mum read it to me when I was small and I've also seen many illustrated versions as well as tv and movie adaptations. I'm sure many are familiar with the Japanese tv series 'Monkey' even if they're not familiar with the original story. Yesterday, while having dinner at the Chinatown food court they were showing another tv version with real crappy production values lol but even so, a couple of toothless old men were getting really excited and yelling at the screen while watching the fight scenes.
