Description The Second Mexican-American War was a warlike conflict between the United States of America and the United Mexican States, which escalated after the tense period of the diplomatic crisis between Mexico and the United States of 2017, a conflict that finally ended on March 23, 2017. led to the US invasion of Mexico.
On January 25, 2017, the US president signed a decree that authorized the construction of a wall on the border with Mexico, to stop the flow of illegal immigration, insisting that the construction of the wall would be financed by Mexico, a claim rejected by the Mexican Government.
The United States reiterated that Mexico would pay for the construction of the wall through increased border crossing fees and NAFTA tariffs, also proposing a renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement because the US president considers it "very unbeneficial for his country."
Finally, after several skirmishes on the border, and a phone call between leaders, diplomatic relations between the two countries were cancelled.
After this, the United States Congress approves the "Military Action Against Mexico Act" to preserve the security of the southern border, promoted by the US president. Thus, the military conflict between the two nations would formally begin on March 23, 2017.
After the rejection of the invading forces, the US army entered more and more into Mexican territory. Mexican forces failed to prevent the occupation of much of the country's territory, and so, in 2021, with the overthrow of the Mexican government, the United States claimed victory.
With the US victory and the signing of the Huey Teocalli treaty, the "Mexican Conflict" and the "Latin American Conflict in the United States" would begin, characterized by ethnic and racial tensions, the rise of nationalism and radicalism, and the economic crisis that hit North America after the fall of the Mexican government.
According to the Secretary General of the United Nations, this invasion was illegal under international law, since it violated the UN Charter.
