One side is fire and the other is ice...

There's a giant mirror in the back of the picture.

Again, very cool. Did you do individual squares? Or one mat block. It would have saved time by putting in one mat block, and put in the chess material with a overlay of the material you got. Unless you tried and it didn't come out right.

Very Nice. I'm enjoying your work.

The board is two sets of flattened cubes, one for the black squares and one for the white, grouped together so I can easily change the textures... same with the two sets of pieces. ... and for this one it's all inside a mirrored cube.

[montypython] I say sir, that's a rather personal question! [/montypython]

...not exactly sure as you can save renders in-progress with Bryce and I do the big ones in chunks, but around 20-30 hours I'd say.

Very 'trippy', they look as if they merge, the further they get apart. nice as always must have taken a while to render

TLBKlaus In reply to Hades-shadow [2006-07-10 17:24:16 +0000 UTC]

yes, it did lol.... about 30 hours, maybe more...?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Hades-shadow In reply to TLBKlaus [2006-07-11 09:30:38 +0000 UTC]

30 hours, damn, longest render i've ever made was 10 hours and i decided to go sleep so it'd hurry up and finish, then when i woke up, i took a screenshot of the render time and then closed the render viewer accidentally

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TLBKlaus In reply to Hades-shadow [2006-07-11 13:10:37 +0000 UTC]

lol... well with Bryce you can save renders and go back to them later, which is obviously a BIG help!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Hades-shadow In reply to TLBKlaus [2006-07-19 16:15:23 +0000 UTC]

lets be thankful all rendering applications have that function I'd be lost without mine, i'd never sleep...or do you mean, you can partly render it, then save it and let it render again another time? i'd love that function

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TLBKlaus In reply to Hades-shadow [2006-07-19 16:20:22 +0000 UTC]

Yes, that is correct, and I wish C4D would do the same... With Bryce's long render times it's nearly a necessity lol! It's one of the reasons why I import a lot of my C4D objects into Bryce and render them there...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Hades-shadow In reply to TLBKlaus [2006-07-19 22:46:08 +0000 UTC]

yeah, I have bryce i'll give that a try if the render time is longer than an hour, but if it isn't, i'll stick to c4d's renderer because I prefer some of its render options, eg caustics and global illumination

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TLBKlaus In reply to Hades-shadow [2006-07-20 13:45:13 +0000 UTC]

I'm still pretty much a C4D noob when it comes to everything past making abstract render shapes lol -- I have a book for it but it isn't as helpful as the ones I have for PS and Bryce, I may have to get another or do a wider tut search. My materials work in C4D is still very basic, which is another reason I import them into Bryce frequently...
