Thank you!! I was looking through photos and saw this from August and realized I hadn't uploaded this one! Silly me!

Nice job! Just enough in focus to really make the image hold together. Great DOF and color. Fav.

I was wondering. What you chose is a stunning image. Personally I find that I take a LOT of exposures and then pick the ones I like the best. If I were still shooting film I'd be absolutely broke.

When I'm shooting still life, I tend to play a lot with changing the exposure level, of upping and lowering the aperture to see what strikes my fancy, and even changing my angles all the time to see if there is a nicer view to what I'm photographing. I know that as photographers we're supposed to be able to get "that shot" in one shot, but the truth of it is, you never know what combination is going to really hit you.
I think as long as you know what you're doing, taking a lot of photos playing around with your settings for intentional changes, that is what we're supposed to do. Because I can tell you that most times I envision a shot, choosing my exposure, aperture, ISO and all that...and it doesn't work out to my satisfaction. I'd rather play with my artistic license!

I do much the same. It's a lot of fun and doesn't make me at all nostalgic for contacts prints, well
maybe just a little. And knowing that, with film, when you bracketed a shot it was going to cost money and not just memory. It does make me think of legendary photographer Steve McCurry who received the last roll of Kodachrome to expose. Talk about pressure. What goes through your mind? What do you shoot? How hard do you work not to waste a shot?
I'm sure my pix would have been all blurry because my hands would have been trembling so much.

Looks great! I like how you have the petal pattern centered, the color is great too!
