It could have been ^^

What is the longest time you have ever spent on a painting?

Thanks!
I think I used about 3-5 days on one of my favourites, "My World Shall Not Be Shaken". That's the longest time I've ever spent on frequently painting all the time.

That is a shitload of time!
Looks like it was worth the effort though

Very good job on the sky and I like the composition of this: the slight tilt, the balance of the figures, the hill and the tree. Excellent work.

huge fan of the whole post apocalyptic theme, and this is nice work and all but.. does it always have to be hapening in USA? ( I can see the NYPD sign). If you were to make another similar to this, please use a city from a different continent =o. Nice work though

TobiasRyenAmundsen In reply to Noneednogreed [2010-08-10 00:59:46 +0000 UTC]

For me, the US - and in this case NYC, symbolize civilization's melting pot. If you think basically, it's the last place that you would think could change so rapidly and radically - I know, I know, many movies and games center themselves an apocalypse in NYC, but still - it symbolizes for me that all hope is gone. All hope is gone when the world's most powerful nation with the most powerful military - shatters.

Although, next time I'll go for another place! Let's be rad!

I adore huge detailing, and it's really sad how much people miss details ( I checked the full version ), Very good job on their faces and the wood poles in the background.

Very nice! Love post-apocalyptic scenes such as this one. Well-handled contrast and shadows, and the sky is also very well made. Quite a disturbing scene, it took me a short while before I saw the human cadavers in the pile!

Holy crap !!
That's totaly insane, morbid and lacking of human feelings ; pure darkness and sadness. Thanks to your awesome shading style and details, especially for this sky, you succeedeed in giving na intense feeling of horror to the pic !
Great work on the expression too ; they send shivers down my spin !! Brrrrr...
Excellent work ; instant fav !!

MUCH obliged for the very, very kind words and criticism! And actually... it's hard to explain, but the thing is, all these things you describe, were done unconsciously, I think. I always have a subliminal plan of how I want the painting to turn out, and I got to admit, I REALLY enjoyed painting this one.
By reaching out to you, dear Sir, I have reached my goal. My goal is to reach out, to give you shivers down your spine, to BLAST YOU AWAY into MY world, my dimension, my fantasy and my mentality and my world of expression. Thank you! I feel complete, somehow. At the moment.

And dude, you have me my 50th Llama Badge = Albino Llama - awesome!! Thanks dude!

You're very Welcome dude!
I'm glad I made you reach your goal !! You totaly deserve it ; I know it must be funny to do this !!
But I'm not skilled that much LOL
But generally, people aren't aware of what there art's effects will be !!

Thanks, man! Really appreciate it, and it is really funny!
Nothing is impossible, my friend - just hone your skills. Instead of going out with friends, you draw, instead of dating girls, you draw - seems rash - and well, maybe I overexaggerated a bit there. But you get the idea. I know that feeling you got. "I'm no good. I will never be able to paint as good as those pros" and etc. But the key is, like a colleague of mine from the States taught me, to use THAT exact feeling for your advantage! Use it as a razor-sharp blade, to improve yourself and to hone your skills! Go fucking crazy! SHOW US WHAT YOU GOT!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SuperSmurgger In reply to TobiasRyenAmundsen [2010-08-10 18:12:56 +0000 UTC]

That's totaly true !! I'm already spending most of my time on DA and drawing !!
Are you studying art in school ?

Great! It really is a good thing to know, that one about the razor-sharp blade!

I'm currently attending classes of media and communciation - the last year of High School. Not directly art classes, but something similar as to the creativity needed to fulfill the tasks we are given. Graphics, design, photography, journalism, movie-production and acting.
