Description Coraline Jones is still deciding what to make of this asshattery.

I've been having a grand old time with the expressiveness of the character faces in Coraline. The more accustomed I get to the art style, the wilder I can get with it. I think this is my favorite sketch of her yet, so it got the full-color treatment.

But why, gentle reader, is our heroine making such a memorably gobsmacked face? Could this be a scene from the story? Or is this just the artist being silly and random?

That would qualify as a spoiler, wouldn't it.

Here's the backstory!!!(in my view)

Coaline wanted to make her hair bluer so she asked May(my OC) for help. HOWEVER!!!! May managed to screw up(as always), so Coraline's hair turned green.

Haha, that'd be pretty funny! (Truth is, she got tired of being bottle-blue and dyed it purple...then orange...then several other colors on purpose, the most recent of which is green. It's actually an illustration for a fic I wrote!)

quick random question: If blonde peoples hair turns blue in clorine water (sometimes) then does that mean coraline's already blue hair would turn blonde?????? Haha, nope! Drawing is a hobby for me. I'd be terrible at doing it full-time. I'm actually in graduate school to become a translator of Japanese.

It was! When she was eleven. Do you know anybody who dyes their hair crazy colors and then keeps it the same color for seven years?

Well, she has slight lips going in the film, too, but actually drawing them on with outlines made them too pronounced, so I just added the color.
