Description So, here we go people.

Billy: A former W&S engine, Billy was boastful, cocky, arrogant and never took the advice of the other engines. It got to the point where he would only be steamed up when the other engines weren't available. When he and Charlie were transferred to the TK&ELR when it opened, it was a matter of time before a tank engine from the Furness Railway, Albert and Charlie would take up the bulk of the traffic. Upon the NWR formation, the tank engines were moved to the branchlines. Charlie was station pilot at Tidmouth while Billy was at Vicarstown. But one day, Billy had to collect trucks from a mine. He disobeyed the danger warnings and fell straight in. Unlike Thomas much later on, Billy was too deep to recover, and then a rockfall ended his life a day or two later. His ghost still haunts the island to this day. Some say he's the Phantom Express, some say he shifts the flatbeds of fear, but most claim that he's the ghost engine who had lost his whistle...

Thomas: After the demise of Billy, another tank engine was needed and a letter was swiftly sent to the GNR. Or, so was thought. Sir Bertram Topham Hatt was in such a rush he put on the address for Brighton by mistake. Of course, the LB&SCR had no J23s, so Thomas was sent instead. He wished he could return home at first, but one of the W&S tank engines, Lady, soon made Thomas feel welcome. Thomas quickly made other friends on Sodor, including Edward. His crew married some local women on Sodor and they even had a child each, so after the war, The Fat Director kept Thomas as part of his railway as station pilot. He later famously rescued James from a nasty accident and now has both a branchline and two coaches he calls his very own.

Charlie: Like Billy, he was a W&S tank engine. But, while Charlie was cheeky and told jokes which made some engines and staff groan with dissatisfaction, he knew when he had to buckle down and get serious. It's no surprise he was the harder working of himself and his brother, and later on he befriended a former FR tank engine named Albert who joined the TK&ELR. When the NWR formed, Charlie worked as station pilot at Tidmouth, and remained there when the headquarters of the NWR moved to the west side of the island in 1925. He was briefly replaced by another tank engine called Val when he was under minor repairs. But, when 1934 rolled around, it was very apparent that Brendam Docks needed a shunter, so Charlie was moved over there, leaving the yard without a tank engine...

Percy: When a big strike occurred, Edward was briefly station pilot, but was bitterly teased by the big engines, leaving him close to tears. Enter the cheeky green tank engine known as Percy. He befriended Edward almost immediately and the two became good working partners, even shutting up Henry when he was about to wheesh the old blue engine. Later on, Percy proved his worth on the branchline three times: once when he was minding Annie and Clarabel during the strike, once when he helped Thomas and Toby rescue Mrs Kyndley and once when Thomas was under punishment at the yards due to disobeying danger signs and Percy minded Annie and Clarabel again. Seeing this, Sir Charles Topham Hatt offered him to work at Knapford Harbour on Thomas' branchline, to which Percy eagerly accepts. He now has two coaches, Rani (Old Slow Coach) and Bailyo (a replica coach who is her brother).

Duck: The workload in the yard was becoming too big for Percy, so Sir Charles Topham Hatt decided to bring Montague into the picture. Better known by 'Duck' because of his supposed 'waddles' the pannier had proven to take no nonsense from anyone. Even though he shut out the big engines with Percy in his first week or two, Duck is also proud, a hard worker and has a good heart. The Fat Controller had been super impressed and saw potential for Duck to be on a branchline. So, he decided to put Diesel on trial so he could take over the yards and Duck could be placed on a branchline as soon as possible. Unfortunately, The Fat Controller didn't know of the history between 5700s and 08s, so the two got into a massive misunderstanding which led to Duck being blamed for something he didn't do and Diesel later being kicked off the island. Neville ended up getting the Kirk Ronan branchline instead. But, The Fat Controller later found another tank engine to be station pilot just in time for the Aresdale Railway construction project to start, and Duck was able to help out. In 1968, Duck got his own coaches, Alice and Mirabel, and he and Oliver co-run the Little Western branchline together.

Pug: Being a longtime friend of Percy and having filled in for the small engine while he was in London, Pug immediately proved his worth on the Island and Sir Charles Topham Hatt saw potential for him to be an NWR engine one day. Low and behold, there was a point where BR didn't want him anymore, and the Fat Controller snatched Pug away from the scrapyards at a moment's notice. For the first couple of years, Pug worked closely with Duck in the main yards, and the two became great friends, even if Pug was a bit nervous at times. In 1967, Duck spent more and more time on the soon-to-be Little Western, and by now, Pug was doing the bulk of the shunting. When 1968 rolled around, Pug proudly became the yard's sole station pilot. But in later years, he started to work down at Knapford Harbour too, and he found himself loving that more. In 1989, he finally got his wish and now works at the harbour alongside Rosie.

Diesel: Though a troublemaker and manipulator once upon a time, his most infamous adventure was when he lied about Duck saying he told nicknames about Henry, Gordon and James to the trucks. One would think Diesel would never return. But as fate would have it, Diesel was the only engine available to help out on Thomas' branchline when Percy was sick. He may have caused trouble by bashing a truck into some buffers, but on the day Diesel was due back, Thomas ended up in a very tight spot. Diesel helped Thomas, Annie and Clarabel up the hill, and the 08 won the respect of the trio and Daisy, who was the first to hear about the rescue. Duck and the big engines were stunned when they heard the story, and wondered if this Diesel was a completely different engine. Then, in 1989, Diesel was working at Barrow in Furness close by the Ironworks, and there he met a GWR 14xx named Oliver who had brought up a rack of trucks. The tank engine was friendly enough and told him about his life on Sodor, but Diesel couldn't help but feel he had seen this 'Oliver' before. Before he could piece the puzzle together, the engines heard Duck's emergency whistle. They swiftly rescued him alongside a terrier tank engine, and Arry and Bart were turned to generators. As a result of Diesel's actions, he was rewarded by becoming the new station pilot while Pug joined Rosie at Knaphord Harbour and the terrier tank, Chichester, joined Jinty at Tidmouth Harbour. Diesel and Oliver also later discovered the former helped the latter escape to Sodor and rescue Isabel from Arry and Bart too. Both these events helped Duck gain Diesel's respect, and I'm pleased to say they are now firm friends.

And so was Charlie. Their basis were first built in 1881 and they are 0-6-0 tank engines. I think it fits well.

ttte.wikia.com/wiki/Wellsworth… see? It says there were four 0-6-0 tank engines on the line. Billy and Charlie would be 1/2 of them.

I also have two OC tank engines: Linda and Mildred. They are anΒ LB&SCR E1 class and aΒ GWR 1076 class.

For Oliver the excavator and Patrick the cement mixer, I'm thinking of giving them other names so we don't get them mixed up with Oliver and Patrick the engines. Otis and Puck maybe.

sodormatchmaker In reply to TobyandMavisforever [2018-05-11 03:53:17 +0000 UTC]

Perhaps. Though with the 2 Olivers thing in SLOTLT, it was amusing and possible for there to be more than one person with the same name.
