Description It’s been a bit of an eclectic studio day, which is fun sometimes as I have so many different projects rattling around in my head. It’s good to hit a few different ones and make a little progress on each. I started with working on a mock up of my next sewing project (this particular one-there are several in the brainstorming stages-is my next attempt at my perfect Every Day Carry bag. It’s basically going to be a pair of cargo shorts chaps that you can strap on top of whatever you’re wearing. Basically, not clothes, just a bunch of wearable pockets), then I spent some time prepping some files for uploading and posting and blogging about (my most recent commissioned project). This evening, I spent some time experimenting with making brushes (I want to come up with a hair and/or fur brush, especially one I can try out on Plunger Monkey’s fur in this new rendering style I’m exploring. I also stumbled into a neat pencil grit texture that I’m going to play around with), quickly experimented with a lighting effect on the last two rendering experiments (left side of the picture), and then started the next sketch to practice the new techniques. I want to spend more time working, but as usual, too much of my day gets eaten up by obligations (driving kids around and volunteer work) or the annoying challenges I have transitioning mentally between drastically different tasks (“dad mode” to working out to sewing to arting to…). I need to work on that.
