Description This started off as a simple doodle, but then I started to color it and before I knew it it became a full picture. lol

As all of you know, the Pokemon Honedge was revealed not long ago. This was made before his official size was revealed, which is why he's so small in comparison to the Riolu. Drew this because of a joke in a thread from a Forum I go to, and I said I would in it.

So yeah, we have a Riolu in Link's cloths wielding a Honedge. (Specially, his Twilight Princess outfit.) For the most part this was made in Sai, with some minor additions added in GIMP. Also tried adding some dirt tecture to his cloths and skin, but it just looks like he was in a bad fight. (Which also works, I guess.)

I own nothing.

Nice work, Toko. The line art looks pretty smooth, and I like the dirt effects. I still don't know how to digitally do small details like that, so I should probably try it soon.

Thanks.

It's actually really easy to add details like that in Sai. Sai includes a slider tool that lets you select blends between two colors, so pretty much all you need to do is add the base texture color, highlight with the blended color that's between it and the skin/fur color, and then blur it.

Still can't figure out what to do with the backgrounds though. Despite how my line art and coloring skills may improve, my backgrounds are still as bland as ever...

Under-detailed characters actually aren't always a bad thing because they help draw focus to the characters. The blur effect also kills the notion of them bein bland.
