Description In 2017 the New River Road was looking for a new locomotive for use in mainline freights they choosed to rebuilt an old locomotive into a modern locomotive they soon looked at Norfolk Southern and Canadian Pacific's fleet of EMD SD90MAC locomotives being rebuilt as SD70ACU locomotives and since they also had a stored fleet of 20 retired SD90MAC's NRR decide to rebuilt all 20 SD90MAC's into SD70ACU's unit number 6701 was the first one to be send to NRR's shops for rebuilding and was soon released from the shops rebuilt as an SD70ACU and renumbered to 7200 and was released into service and soon more locomotives number 7201-7210 were rebuilt and later the final batch of 9 locomotives number 7211-7219 all 20 units were also upgrade to 4500 horsepower and met the EPA's Tier 1 emission standards NRR's SD70ACU's were the second locomotives to receive the update version of NRR's blue with yellow stripes C&O inspired paint scheme with the roof painted black and they continue to operate to this day on mainline freights aswell as excursion trains
