Description Welll, this is an entry for 's contest [link] where you take a fairy tale and set it in another culture!

Soooo I did Beauty and the Beast and put it in an Aztec setting (with obvious artistic liberties, I don't have the best resources for Aztec fashion...). But yeah!

So the beast is supposed to be a feathered serpent, like the god Quetzalcoatl, but it's not supposed to be exactly like him of course. Also, I tried converting the rose into a Delilah (I read somewhere that they were native to Central America) but I looked at the wrong reference and it turned into a chrysanthemum... yeeaaahhhh....

And I changed her name from Belle to Tepin. While Tepin does not translate to Beautiful, it does translate to "Little One" in Nahuatl. And seeing that she is the youngest of three sisters it seemed fitting.

Funny fact... Quetzalcoatl was banished (or he left, vary on the surce) its kingdom because he slept with his daughter.

So witouth wanting to, you jst made a very acurate picture.

I like it, but why almost everyone mades Quetzalcoatl like a dragon...! sorry I'm a bit tired so I tend to rant a little.

Yeah, according with the myth, he was fooled (drunken in some cases) by some of his enemies, this resulting on his little slip. In the end he leaves the kingdom by shame but swears to return... this is what makes the Spanish invasion so easy, as the Aztec Emperor of the time believed in this myth.

Well the body looks great, the head is what looks more like a dragon, you see: snakes doesn’t growl, they have their nostrils are more in front and not at the sides and the commissures of their mouth are almost as long as their heads (so they could swallow their preys whole). You could use images to help you out, must depictions of the god are similar to boas constrictors.

I can't blame you about it the reason why it looks that way was simoky to make it look goodly, or something like that What snakes do closely to growling is opening their mouth and show their fangs, posibly that was what the makers of that stone wanted to replicate.
