Another apt title. The curls remind me of the scrolls on orchestral instruments or on musical notation like the treble clef.

The bass clef is back to front!...

But I still love it.

Looks a bit like a phoenix, actually... Or something similar.

Thanks a lot. I was pleased with the way it came out. I haven't been as pleased with some of the other Nebula pieces. Seems there is always something that I am not 100% happy about.

You've definitely succeeded in your goal!!!

I can see the musical connotations throughout the piece in everything from the swirls that look like bass clef signs, to the great sweeping arches and crashing waves of light, which remind me *strongly* of the feel of one of the more vigorous works of the classical masters, Bach or possibly Beethoven, just washing over and about and through me, the way it does when you hear a symphony perform live, in a hall with good acoustics.

Whoever mentioned that this piece looked like it was drawn with a "pen of light", I quite agree! Especially that swirl in the center, it reminds me of the beautiful scrollwork of hand-calligraphed copperplate lettering. Altogether gorgeous!

I *really* love this piece, it's just stunning!

Now I have to go and check out your gallery... *grin*

Not a big investment on my part; it doesn't take that long to type the comments that would be running through my head anyway, as I stared delightedly at the artwork, anyway... < smile> ...and as for kind, all I sought to be was honest. But I'm glad to have been able to give you the kind of feedback which I, as an artist, tend to welcome on my own work; the honest enjoyment of an outspoken viewer.

Wow, thanks for taking such time to give me your comments. One of the best comments I have gotten; you have described exactly what I was seeking to achieve in this piece. Thank you very much; you are very kind.

Another stunner, Tom. The small touch of ribbons gives some great form to this. Another soft and firey gradient, blended to perfection.

TomWilcox In reply to Aeires [2004-06-01 04:11:27 +0000 UTC]

Thanks jeff. I thought the ribbon shapes depict music notations and the energy of the image was symbolic of a great piece of classical music.
