Description Meet Amos, the unstrung marionette. The absence of strings holding up his skeletal form is symbolic of freedom in death. Oh wait, no, that's bullshit I just made up. I just thought he would be cool.

Actually, Amos is a marionette assembled from 43 (or more depending on whether you count the ribcage as one piece or not) individually sculpted pieces of polymer clay strung together using monofilament. He is more or less anatomically correct though he IS missing a vertebrae. Although not currently strung to a control mechanism, he is designed to be able to be strung and performed as a marionette or rod puppet. His mouth is jointed so that it may be strung and the dead may be made to speak. His left hand is closed and may be made to hold something (use your imagination).

I had originally wanted to make Amos an old man with a large kyphosis in the spine so that he would be hunched over and walk with a cane but I decided that he would be more versatile as an upright puppet. I'm thinking about giving him pirate scarf hat and a cutlass just for fun. (Arrrrrr!)

Hope you enjoy!

I thought making him a marionette would be like giving him a life of his own. Now he can easily change positions and someday maybe I'll actually perform something with him...

Thanks! For some reason, I couldn't help but hum "Remains of the Day" whenever I was working on him...

Thanks! I guess all those hours of hacking up corpses and looking at bones was good for something after all.
