Well, I was really surprised by the positive reaction to my updated version of Amanda's winter outfit here:So I went straight on and started bringing her very first outfit up to scratch. Right now she looks just ready to go and face the bad guys! Just hope she doesn't trust that Professor Schnell.
I will explain a little more about what I have been doing with shaders and lighting in a journal post. Short version though is that I am working with environmental light as the main light in the scene. It's a breakthrough for me as I have previously lit stories like Ciara's Egyptian Nightmare and Penelope Working Late solely with spots, which has been painstaking and tedious to get light looking quasi-realistic. It's put me off doing new, detailed sequential stories. So I have been working with the undisputed master of light and shade, Bowski Productions on techniques to set up lights faster and better for rooms. Hopefully we will be seeing a lot fewer grey-background pics in future and more of the girls in the sort of settings I imagine: the sort of places that they really shouldn't be!

Following my earlier pattern, I decided to go back to your original post of Amanda in this outfit, which I believe is this one: torqual3d.deviantart.com/art/A… . This helps highlight what you've mastered in the last few years. Obviously there are a lot of in-betweens on the way from one to the other, but I think the newest picture (i.e., the one I'm actually critiquing!) is lightyears away from the original!

This is probably not merely an effect of the lighting change, but Amanda's skin just seems to have an exuberant natural glow to it here -- very exciting! Moreover, with this lighting you can see much more detail and texture in her hair compared to the original.
I found it interesting to review these two pictures back-to-back (well, tab-to-tab), especially since Amanda is in almost exactly the same pose; whether that was intentional or not, it's a nice way of marking this new chapter in your renditions of her. And I have to say, picturing Amanda in the studio modeling for both pictures made me think about how much good lighting matters, for real-world models as well as digital. It's almost as though Amanda in the former picture is posing saying, "And if you think this looks good...[does an about face into better light] check THIS out!"
Of course, we all know Amanda is pretty unconscious of her looks, so she might not say something like that. Just saying.
