History:
Arjun was born hundreds of years ago before recorded time as a simple human being, with the name Ko. He was angered to have been born human however in a world brimming with magic and power. He was thin and small and easily taken advantage of but luck would see it that he'd find a beautiful oil lamp. When Ko wiped it clean, a powerful djinn was summoned and shackled to him. The djinn however was malevolent and it could see that Ko was one who could easily be manipulated. He urged the boy to use his first two wishes to get his heart's desires which he used for both wealth and status. When it came time for his final wish, the djinn inflated Ko's head with the notion that he should be more powerful and on top of everyone else who had ever scorned him; that money and status were not enough. Ko wished for more power and the djinn granted it by switching their places, condemning Ko to an eternal life of servitude.
Ko was sucked into the lamp and the former djinn buried it to teach him a lesson in humility. There Ko lay in darkness for years, starving, cold, and lonely but immortal and thus unable to die. He spent so many years inside that when the lamp was finally found and he was freed in the year 721 from its confines, he could not even remember his own name. The child that found him, Ravdeep Mann gave him the name Arjun and took him into her family to relearn society. The world had advanced so far for him that he was positively floored but Arjun caught on quickly. Ravdeep was young and did not yet understand the power that she commanded with his lamp and Arjun was ignorant himself. When Ravdeep turned twenty four, she and Arjun began a relationship and like every union, they had their ups and downs. One particular night, they were arguing over something when she said that she wished she'd never met him whilst subsequently touching the lamp. To Arjun's complete surprise, he was compelled to follow through with the wish, erasing her memories of him and then was sucked back into the lamp and transported elsewhere. When he was freed again a few years later, Arjun adopted Ravdeep's last name.
Arjun's lamp made its way into hundreds of hands. From lowly peasants who wanted nothing more than a bite to eat to warlords sieging whole countries. Some of them made for excellent friends, others made for passionate lovers, and some downright made him wish he could take his own life. He was ordered to do a very many things he did not want to do but he had no choice in the matter. After inadvertently causing the deaths of hundreds of people by the order of many vengeful masters, Arjun had enough and tried to cleave himself from his lamp. It never worked of course so he began to ask his masters if he could possibly use their final wish to separate him from the lamp. None of his masters were merciful enough however until a young man that he had to serve in the year 1307. The man obliged and for his third wish, he wished that Arjun be separated from the lamp but it backfired. Arjun could only be freed by tricking another person into taking his place as the last djinn had. Instead, the wish made it so that Arjun could exist outside of the lamp even when it was not in use in a human like form but should he find a master, the magic would overtake him. With that wish, Arjun and the djinn became like separate beings with separate consciousnesses. He could live out an immortal life and do what he wanted to do but whenever someone came into possession of his lamp, the djinn would take over and it wasn't kind.
Since then, Arjun started going to great lengths to hide and protect his lamp to protect innocent people from the djinn. Every so often it would be found but when the wishes were granted and the lamp was flung away, he'd locate it and hide it again. Recently, his last master thought it'd be funny to wish Arjun back into the lamp forcefully and sell him to the highest bidder. He was purchased by a wealthy art collector that took the lamp at face value as an art piece. The art collector eventually gifted the lamp to AcademyDeleAmour for display unknowing of the power within. When the box landed on Ammarate's desk for final inspection, she brushed the lamp with her thumb and Arjun was freed and subsequently shackled to her. Ammarate was wary of him though as djinn were known for being tricksters but Arjun was smitten and eventually he managed to convince her to let him apply for the position of librarian.
