Caution: Large Tutorial

P.S. forgot to list it in the actual tut. you will need flush cutters, which you can get at craftstores and some hardware stores - no need to buy really expencive ones. as long as they can make a flush cut and have thin enough tips to cut smaller jumprings - you're good
same idea with wire - unless you want to make something in sterling silver - galvanized steel wire from a hardware store will do just fine.
last but not least - mandrels. anything, from thicker wire, to pencils, pens, knitting needles, long iron nails, etc will do. all that's required is, that whatever, you are using, is round and has the same diameter through out its length.

P.S. 2 As suggested by ~QuibblerMe to save wire, and to ensure a tighter coil - you can drill a hole trough the top of your mandrel, so that you can bend a small tip and tuck it into a hole, before you start winding. be careful when you start your hole, since your bit can slip of the slippery round surface. i would suggest notching your mandtrel in some way first, and then fitting your drill bit into that notch - that should prefent some of the slippage (you can nitch it with a small triangular file, across the mandrel, no lengthwise) do not use highspeed to drill - slow speed is a lot easier to control. good luck
