"Tell me, how do you separate one person's anime from another one's? You can't.
You can guess, yes, but you're not sure until you look at the artist's signature."

No difference? O.o
Honestly, there's nothing wrong with disliking anime. Most people that I know don't even have a clue as to what it is, so it's also not as popular as you might think. Sure, in the artist world, it is. But for the real world, not so much.
As for the picture, I like it. I have a certain affinity for maids at the moment. You see, I'm going to my first anime convention in the next month or so. My friends and I are going as a group and decided to put me in a, guess what, maid's outfit. XD [link]
We're going as all the characters from "The Meloncholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" if you've heard of it.
As for the drawing, she's very cute. ^^ Reminds me of what my character has to be like. D=>
I really like the coloring you've done.

Yes, "different" is the first word that comes to mind. But look at them both reeeally hard. Do you see any "differences"? I see the same structure, I see the same general idea, only with a dissimilar color scheme.
When it comes down to it, the only thing that differentiates my anime from your anime is how many hair lines I drew on mine's head. Of how much detail I put in the eyes. If I wanted my character to have a line or a dot for a nose. If I want my character to have spiky, solid colored hair or 'spaghetti' type hair.
( Also, I may be biased, but I still think that the idea of having a pet/slave/blood doll girlfriend thing is sick. Granted I know nothing about that anime, your ex told me about it, but c'mon if he loves her so much he should just break her neck. It would be less cruel. )
What anime is, is grabbing some guy's general idea and putting in your own stuff in the hopes of making a "new style". What's creative about that? That's just a thin line away from being art theft.
Art comes from an ancient greek word that means invention. To create new stuff. Not taking pre-made stuff and adding bits and pieces.
So, as far as I can tell, anime goes against the most basic principle of art. To create new things.
So yes, no difference.

And I'm glad you like it, sort of! It makes me almost proud of having drawn it, sort of! xP
Send me a photo of you in your costume. I'm sure you'll look cute! :3
And no, surprisingly I've never heard of the thing. Imagine that.
Yeah, thank you. I like the idea of clumsy girls. Personally, I think that clumsy is cute. Unless of course I hired said clumsy girl to be a serving girl in a cocktail I'm having, and she ends up decimating my entire population of wine glasses and expensive porcelain dishes. In that case, I would not think clumsy to be cute.
And... Coloring? Where? x3

Would you give the same answer if I asked you to compare two realism sketches?
I see what it is that you are trying to say, though. But I see many more differences than those. Perhaps because I'm around it more and am more sensitive to the dissimilarity of it all.
Also understand that anime is an easier style of drawing than most, so more people tend to do it for that reason.
(As for Vampire Knight, it's not like that at ALL! It seems Justin did a bad job explaining it. It's really in depth, but that part is different. She sees him as a brother. The brother was transformed into a vampire. In other words, if he doesn't have blood, he dies. Because of circumstances, she offers herself to him to save his life, pretty much. A lot more story than that, though.)
I'm sorry, but I may take offense to "Art comes from an ancient greek word that means invention. To create new stuff. Not taking pre-made stuff and adding bits and pieces." if I didn't know that you were as stubborn as an old mule set in its ways. Simply because I don't 'take pre-made stuff and add a few accessories'. I really and truly don't. =/ Everything I do is almost always 100% made up by me.
NO STEREO-TYPES FOR JOO!
I planned to upload convention pics. I'm going as the maid the first day, then a young, girly-faced male character the second. XD We may open a booth and sell art there. ^^ Someone may be walking off with "The Perfect Night." You never know. XD
I agree completely with that!
You know where.

Point taken, point taken.
Yeah, anime is pretty much "beginner art", in a manner of speaking. That's what I saw it like when I started drawing, anyways. It was always my plan to learn how to draw using anime, then dispose of it when I became good enough to create my own style. For some reason, I've fallen back to anime lately. That's why I feel like I'm moving backwards instead of upgrading, you see my point?
(...So she's his blood doll? All vampires need at least one blood doll. You know, a pretty much perpetual source of vitae.)
Ay, Klaora, I didn't mean that your drawings in particular are unoriginal.
Forget it, I actually had typed a very reasonable speech about originality and the kick in the pants to creativity that anime is. I won't type it again coz you'll get offended for sure.
The point was, 'don't become part of the faceless and nameless mass of mainstreamed peoples.'
... OK. Weird and creepy. Like all things Japan, of course. I'm sure that's like the tagline for Japan's tourism service. "Come to Japan! It's weird and creepy! <3"
Actually to tell you the truth, I've been thinking about them ambiguous characters. Maybe I'll create a couple someday, just to be weird and creepy.
As for your art booth, that's very good! Making money by doing stuff you love is always awesome in my book.
lol, clumsy.
No srsly, where? I splattered some paint around it to make it looks almost acceptable. You sure that's called coloring?
