I just wish people wouldn't talk about it at all, it shouldn't matter. Sadly, it's an inevitable conversation I think ^_^;;

I think most of these comics want us to laugh at your suffering.

Oh it's not so bad, I'd take this over falling every day ^_^;;; but I'd rather laugh at it than worry about it for sure ^__^

Wow, it's hard to imagine that being acceptable. Even if its a cultural thing there, I would also be hurt to have someone comment on how much weight I've gained.
I saw someone after a couple years, an acquaintance mind you, someone I met through work and hardly knew, and the first thing she said was, "You've gotten fat. Might want to stay away from the dinner table for a while." She was an older lady and I don't think she really meant any harm, but dang, her words followed me for WEEKS and I still feel like crap when I think about them. It's like, ok I KNOW I'm fat. I have to look at myself every day. I don't need other people telling me I need to lose weight. sigh.

Yeeah, I'm pretty sensitive about my weight, so it was really shocking the first time, but I think I'm used to being shamed for my weight back at home by family & just expecting strangers to talk about it behind my back. Here tho, it's just an open topic of conversation, and there's no real shaming that I've come across? Like it's a statement of fact that I'm just so unused to hearing b/c I assume I'm gonna hear "you're horrible looking, fix yourself" right after that ^_^;;

I'm sorry you've had to deal with shaming in the past. I've been there too, and it feels awful. I still get lectured by family about my weight and I'm 30. >__<

I heard weight is a pretty big deal in Japan in general right? Like if you're overweight it's kinda frowned upon? I'm not sure of course but man would that take my self esteem down even further seeing as I'm already not happy with my weight :"D

It depends on where you are, plus size women are getting more support and stuff, I've never heard it in the negative tone that I did in the states, more just like a "oh hey! You've gained weight" comment.
Ahah yeah, I don't need to be reminded for sure lol
