Description Like a falconer holding out his arm for his bird to land on, a Yetti extends her arm to be a perch for a pair of Icarras...

...Okay, explaining why these creatures were drawn together is going to take a moment:

My setting of Vistallah is getting an overhaul. In an attempt to give some structure to the many (many) different creatures of Vistallah, each creature is going to be sorted into a specific categoy. There will be seven Real Species--species that work like real species familiar to us in the real world. Then there will be seven Half-Species--those that are male-only or female-only and must look to one of the Real Species to complete themselves. There were will be seven Cults/Curses--which alter one of the Real Species. There will be seven Shape-Shifters. And seven Creations--which are elemental things that spontaneously generate under the proper conditions. In addition, I'm limiting the Vistallahn pantheon to fourteen specific dieties-- seven Gods, and seven Goddesses. Add all that together, and you get seven categories of seven: 7X7.

(Alongside that, the creatures of the setting that are inherantly evil will be categorized in three categories of three: 3X3.)

Now, if you closely at that breakdown, you'll find that 7 creatures--the Real Species--are pretty much self-sufficent. But there are 28 others that need some sort of supernatural explanation. And then there are 14 dieties. Doing the math, we can see that each diety is responsible for 2 of those supernatural creatures.

And by now, some of you can see where I'm going with this...

The first of dieties is Royan--The Hunter. Obviously, he is the god of hunting. And of just being out in the wilderness. And of slaying monsters and evil things that come from said wilderness. And of subduing/seducing monsterous and untamed women of the wild lands. In short, he is the god of being awesome! (And because of his inherant awesomeness, he is acknowledged as the King of the Gods, but he is more associated with great feats than with administration.)

The first of Royan's creations is the Yetti. Yettis were created in the legendary days of old, back in Vistallah's ice age. Back then, Royan and other manly men would venture out into the frozen wastes to have adventures and slay monsters. These quests were long and arduous, and while Royan valued the company of fellow adventurers, they just weren't a suitable replacement for feminine companionship. Alas, there were few women who could survive such quests, and fewer still who could do so and remain good company. And so, Royan turned some would-be camp followers into Yettis! They became giant and furry, allowing them to survive the elements, to keep up with any adventuring party, and to defend themselves from whatever monsters the adventures may let slip by them. And they kept the attitude of a cheerful camp follower--always happy to comfort and coddle an adventurer after a long day's work. In modern times, adventures are less epic, but the Yettis remain ever-eager to spend time with any handsom fellow they find hiking through the forest....

The other of Royan's creations is the Icarra. A beautiful woman who can shapeshift into a woman-sized falcon. Again, they were created to be worthy companions on Royan's adventures--though built for less extreme environments. And like the Yetti, modern Icarras remain eager companions to any man who ventures boldly into the wild....

Most interesting. I can't wait for you to finalize things and publish it for the rest of us.

Yeah, I made an effort to start publishing this, but there are still a few blank spaces in the categories, and more than a few ideas that are still being shuffled around...

Is Vistallah on the same planet as Felarya?

No. The two have nothing at all to do with one another...

Great to see your organising the creatures in vistallah into a system. Will amazons be a cult or a creation?

Oh, a Cult. Definately...

Yeti: So, how was your flight? Did you find anything?
Iccarra: Yes, we managed to find an elk, which was very good eating. Afterwards, we flew over the trail to see if anyone was coming. A few caravans who huddled in close when they saw us, even a few mercenaries who tried shooting at us with arrows. But then we found...a single man.
Yeti: A man? Travelling alone? Tell me more.
Iccarra: He was young, and quite good-looking too. He was wearing a bright green cloak, usually sold by the merchants nearby as part of the adventuring kits. It's pretty clear that he hasn't traveled much, otherwise he would have gone for a more duller green cloak, to match the color of the trees. He's not wearing any insignia to indicate he's a courier, so I doubt he's in any hurry to get anywhere. He's currently setting up camp, most likely.
Yeti: Hmm. Did he see you?
Iccarra: Yes, in our bird forms. He seemed afraid and tried to hurry past. He probably thought we would have him for dinner, perhaps. Although, I must confess, I wouldn't mind having him for "dessert".
Yeti: Oh, poor dear. Traveling all alone in the wilderness, thinking everything is out to get him. We should teach him that not everything means him harm. See if you can find him again and bring him here. We'll give him a nice, safe, warm place to spend the night...out of the goodness of our hearts.
Iccarra: *smile* As you wish, milady. *turns into bird form and flies off*

You may have written all that while I was typing up the extended explanation to the picture....But, boy, did you ever get the attitudes right!

Well played. Very well played....

Glad I got it right. I already knew that Yettis were more "gentle giantess", so I somewhat went from there. Hmmm...another little dialouge comes to mind.

*Iccarras bring man to cave and set him down. At first he is panicked, but when he sees that they also brought his pack, there are no human bones around, and that there is a fire with roasted meat on a spit nearby, he calms down*
Man: Um, hello. Is there anyone there?
Yetti: *still in darkness* Hello, young traveler. I'm sorry if my pretties scared you, but I wanted to see you. Are you alright?
Man: Uh, fine, actually. Your birds actually came in and saved me from some bandits that had surrounded my campsite. So...it's good they came when they did, I guess.
Yetti: Yes, the wilderness can be a dangerous place, so we were wondering if you wanted a safe place to spend the night. Moxy, Melinda, so hello to our guest.
*The two Iccarra step into the light in their human form*
Melinda: Pleasure to meet you, traveller.
Man: Are...are these the birds from earlier?
Yetti: Very perceptive of you. These are Iccarra, or bird-women as you might call them. I assure you they mean no harm to honest travellers. Speaking of creatures of the wilderness, do you know what a Yetti is?
Man: Um, I think so. Large furry creatures, usually not meaning harm...
*Yetti steps into light*
Man: ....Oh. Um, they, uh, didn't mention how pretty you look.
Yetti: Oh, you flatter me. Anyway, we enjoy some company from time to time and were hoping that you would be willing to spend the night in exchange for a few stories.
Moxy: ...Not to mention a small "fee" for helping you out.
Yetti: Moxy, hush. We would not impose our will on our guest; we aren't drakes or Amazons. Traveller, if you wish to leave, then my friends will take you back to the campsite where they found you. I apologize if you felt that you were compelled to stay with us.
Man: No, no, that's alright, but thanks for telling me that. I don't think I'd mind staying in a safe place with, if you don't mind me saying, such beautiful company.
Yetti: Well, I'm delighted. Here, let's see if we can't get you more comfortable.
*Yetti picks up the man and places him in her cleavage*
Yetti: Oh, my. Your face has turned all red. Are you alright?
Man: Um, yes, ma'am. It's just, um, human women usually mind when strangers touch their, um, chests.
Yetti: Oh? Do you not like my "pillows"?
Man: Oh, that's not the problem at all! Your pillows are nice and large and...soft and comfy.
Yetti: Well, then I don't mind you touching them at all. Let's get the girls up here as well.
*Yetti places the two Iccarra in her cleavage as well.*
Moxy: This is one of our favorite places to rest.
Melinda: We hope it's not too cramped for you. *presses up against him*
Man: No, it's fine. Everything...everything is just fine.

Even as big as she is, with three people, its got to be pretty crowded in there! ...Still, its easy to see how it would be a fun place to 'nest.'
