This is absolutely amazing! I love how it looks, even if it was rushed. :3 I love chess and I play all the time.

Hello!
Thank you for the kind comment
Yeah, it was a bit rushed... last minute!
Basically, the issue that occured was, that the background didnt quite render the way it should have. Since i didnt have time to fix that "properly", the quick solution was to pull in a new background via Photoshop. I had doubts, that this would look nice, but in the end, i was surprised, that it did work out quite well. But i am sure, if you look closely at the reflections, you might see some "discrepancies" xD
And well.. .here i tried to go for a wide-angle look and a low POV to sell some drama and the "spy behind the lines"-ish look.
Also, i love chess, too.
I mean, i SUCK at it, because i only know the rules, and not how to "play properly", but i think, its one of the greatest games ever!

Yes, it definitely is probably one of the most awesome and amazing games ever.
I mean... the rules are comparatively simple, but the COMPLEXITY of it is impressive!
And this sounds, like you are a very, VERY good player O_o
My face when i read that "36th of your state"-thing: D=
You would SO rip me to SHREDS! xD
So yeah, i really only know the basic rules of it, not proper playing xD

Oh, thank you muchly for the kind words
These compliments mean a lot to me, especially since i am not a native english speaker.
Writing... Hm, i dont think i am much of a writer... Though i love chatting on here and writing comments and theralike, and i love reading a lot. And my comments on here, as well as my journals, ALWAYS turn out WAY too long. Same goes for my artistΒ΄s comments, haha.
And yeah, i get what you mean by "complex plans that never seem to work".
I think, when you plan something strategic, it is easily overlooked, how easily your opponent might cross your plans, consciously or accidentally.
Also, developement is very important. It is a very good idea to try to gain control over large areas of the chessboard as early in the game as possible, yet alone for the fact, that your figures might easily block each others moves if you dont move out quickly....
And yes, chess is partially about practice. Memory, for the most part, but thats only part of it.

Well, the first line you wrote there was perfect.
If you need someone to practice: Hier bin ich!
And maybe that is just the little mistake you make? Planning out the ENTIRE game...?

lol, oh us lazy butts. It's always last minutes stuff and time constraints that foil us. xD;

The perspective absolutely kicks ass in this one! It's rather intimidating, particularly since it feels as though the viewer is that sneaky little ninja, tiptoeing behind enemy lines.
Another nice entry hon, good luck!!

Hey, thank you!
I like the perspective, too!
Its my first image, i think, where i changed the lense from the standard 35 mm...
Its a 15 mm here (even though its 3D, you do have lenses xD )
And iΒ΄m glad you like it
And yeah: i kind liked the "feeling" of being hidden behind these enemy lines...
Actually, this came out kinda wrong, but i managed to fix it...
lol, didnt guess it would work xD
(the background didnt render the way it should, and so i placed a new one in Photoshop, but it wouldnt show up through the glassfigures... but somehow, it worked anyways xD )

lol, nice coincidence!
I mean, i did use reference when i modeled the pieces, but really only as a sort of "guide", just to get the proportions right, haha!
Well, if you want, check out my deviation "mind matters", you can see the whole set, i guess, the other figures wont look like the one from your set... especially the knight will look different
But hey: I have a set thats looking a little like this, too

Ja, ist mir gerade aufgefallen.
Die sind alle super!
Gefallen mir alle sehr gut.
"Pwnd" besonders, hehe: Der Bauer schlΓ€gt den KΓΆnig.
Schach matt.
