This is really good. It fits Beka too, being frustrated with the pigeons for always repeating themselves and leaving scummer on her clothes. Lol, I'd hate to rely on them as well. (Dust spinners aren't too bad, though)

Although, between the spinners and the pigeons, it seems to be impossible for Beka to both gather good, reliable information and stay clean at the same time. ^__^;

Lol. At least she's got Pounce. When he's being a good Constelation/God/cat, Beka can keep mostly clean. The spinners aren't that bad. As long as Beka's got her hair braided (no need to worry about that one), she's pretty good on the apperence on clenliness, her uniform being black and all.

Undoubtedly, that is why the uniforms are black in the first place. Hunting Rats is a dirty job. ^__^

Very dirty. I still can't help but wonder wether the puppy trim is to mark them out to be spared or targeted first...I think the rats would target them first, but the Dogs hope for it to mark them out to be spared.

Well, it probably started out as just something to let you be able to tell Puppies apart from regular Dogs. Over time, though, it probably turned into more of a target to the Rats, since Puppies would have a harder time defending themselves than regular Dogs would.

That sounds like a good theory. I asked my mom, and she mentioned that the rats would tend to target the Dogs so that they weren't trying to ruffle up the Puppies while the ones who could do the most damage were free to do what they might. That is worth considering.

Maybe. ^^ It's kinda something that the author left open, at any rate.

I agree. I would like to point out that that was definitely an odd book from Tamora Pierce. Her others are very different from Terrier, and I'm assuming Bloodhound, though I haven't read it yet...

awesome! your drawing style is great.. I love that you got all her details right and managed to design a wonderful uniform from the book's description as well! and good question.. never thought of that.. why did she choose to write about pigeons? maybe because someone who tells a cop information is a called a rat and pigeons are rats with wings so with them she ties in the sneaky rat and the wings of the supernatural to make excellent informants, maybe.. now I've confused myself XD

Well, however she got the idea, it is pretty interesting. Maybe it's because pigeons are just so commonplace (not to mention annoying) in cities, and they're usually considered winged vermin. Wouldn't it be funny if they were actually playing some kind of pivotal role in life?
...And we already know Tammy likes to give birds big roles in her books. Kel has sparrows, Aly has crows, and Beka has... pigeons. XD

Yes, why pidgeons? I hate them. Smelly, noisy, big round eyes, poo on you...so you have to endure the questions about the smudge on my uniform...

Ahaha,..... I ADORE Terrier, the book. Indeed- why pigeons? why not cute little kitties?

I really need to read that book. One of my friends, same one who introduced me to deviantART, was reading it towards the end of last school year and said it was good. Your art has confused me more and thus made me more curious about the book.

Your Terrier fanart merits two postings. It's that good- I love Beka's pose and her determined expression. Do more Terrier stuff?
