why does he have a huge gash in his side, just curious, this comic is cool, but i don't think even he truly understands exactly what is happening or why, i think he just wants to be able to trust something, (am i close?) this is a neat idea, the conflict between what his human mind and dog heart want to believe, i think that really cool

Kubin is my new favorite character.

The question is... how does he want to be treated? He said that neither the dog- nor the son treatment worked for him. And the Hybrid solution seems to be like a living hell. So what does he want. Does he even know what he wants? It can't be this...

Who can really say to know himself? And do we really know what we want and what is good for us?
I think that a good start is to ask those questions... answers will come, but I'm not sure they will be univocal answers...
Thanks a lot for your nice comment!

Ahhh little Maia. There is still so much for you to learn in the quick changing world. You will see good, bad, beautiful, and ugly things. Kubin seems to have found peace with himself, he knows what he is and the opinions of mankind twords him and accepts his fate, though grim it maybe.
Thier story is so sad
Yet your art and plot is as mystifing and alluring as ever. Wonderful work dear!

The story will be sad.. but there will be happy moments also... as you pointed out life is a mingling of light and darkness... it is up to us to make the most out of both!
Thanks a lot for the compliments...

I'm interested to hear about the guy who treated Kubin as his son. Aren't people supposed to despise hybrids?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

truepoetryneverdies In reply to Colecanth [2012-05-28 09:57:03 +0000 UTC]

Sorry for my late reply.. Now you already know who is the guy who treated him like a child
In Epta (that is the empire where the story is set), as in our world, people have different opinions.. Nazy people want to destroy all hybrids, but not all people are nazy... Moreover when Kubin was young, the Nazy party was not very strong... It rose to power a few years later..
Thanks a lot for you question!

EternalGeekExposed [2012-05-18 19:53:20 +0000 UTC]

This is so heartbreaking, and has a lot of relevance to many oppressed groups today: interracial children, intercultural families, men and women who don't fit their cultural gender norms, transgenders and gays. When I first tried to come to grips with being lesbian, i remember asking myself similar questions... "which part of me is wrong? The fact that I am female or the fact that I am attracted to women?" One of them, I felt, must be in error. Being a contradiction and being treated as one both by the world and by myself was heartbreaking. It takes great personal strength as well as the support of others to learn to accept that neither part of you is wrong. I am not a contradiction, and I am not a failure as a woman. You illustrated this conflict so beautifully.

WolfsNeverDie [2012-05-18 19:21:55 +0000 UTC]

I have no idea why, but i want to cry...

IT's quite understandable. Man is always afraid of things that are different from him. Things that doesn't falls into their thinking frame and steps out of it. After all, that way racism is born...

Kubins last sentence hit me QwQ

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

truepoetryneverdies In reply to WolfsNeverDie [2012-05-18 22:28:37 +0000 UTC]

Thanks my dear! Yes.. I think that, in the beginning, racism came from a natural fear and it may be useful among animals... but the humans who proudly declare themselves the most evoluted and intelligent beings on earth...they have no reasons (nor excuses) for being racist...
thanks a lot for your comments.. they are always meaningful and help me to clear my thoughts...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

WolfsNeverDie In reply to truepoetryneverdies [2012-05-19 07:01:53 +0000 UTC]

Well, everyone has a fear of unknown and unexplainable, so that's understandable =w='' Though putting fears before reasoning in same time is not good for yourself and humanity as whole...

As far as i remember this is quite clear society with set bloodlines and sort of 'species' between humans (due to their hair/skin colour) which in some way possibly excludes racism >.>'' Hybrids, who doesn't stand in either category - nor a man, nor an animal, in such a clear society most likely can bring confusion, fear and disgust... Well, that's what i have gotten >w<''

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

truepoetryneverdies In reply to WolfsNeverDie [2012-05-23 12:45:59 +0000 UTC]

Of course you hit the point!... but the reasoning about "differences" and "how to deal with them" is long and I'm just at the beginning for now: I plan to develop it further in the following of the comic..
After all, in more than 3000 years of history, mankind hasn't solved it yet...

Excellent work in art and in plot or character discussion, (i forget what its called, i was raised in two countries so my grammar is funky. :3 )

True humans fear things that are different but also similar due to that, No one really know where the differences are or if there just another of our Human Illusions.

You hit the target in the middle my dear... differences are real or are they just in the eye of the watcher?
Btw Are you bilingual? Amazing (of course I envy you, all my life I had to shed sweat and blood over grammar books to learn foreign languages ...)... From which cultures do you come from?

The problematic is quite accurate-Mankind fears what it dosent know and understand. And in this case the hybrids. You cant feel sympathetic.

truepoetryneverdies In reply to DragonStrider [2012-05-18 18:36:12 +0000 UTC]

This is it! Even before being a social problem, hybrids (and foreigners and different people) are a philosophical problem...
...how do you dare to say that you are not intelligent?
