Description

QKDark consists of a dark color scheme for KDE, a smooth preset for QtCurve, and a Plasma theme named TranslucyDark, which together give a clean dark look to KDE.

The package also contains a matching Aurorae decoration theme, which has a deeper shadow and nicer titlebar buttons but does not meld with dialogs.

Please see INSTALL for installation instructions.

I made the KDE icon set nouveKDEGray ( tsujan.deviantart.com/art/nouv… ) for this theme.

Recent changes:

Jan 6 2014

------------

Added an optional Aurorae decoration.

Made the inactive titlebar color the same as the active one.

Took care of Lancelot and made the background color of the Plasma buttons transparent.

Great work

I set up a new system recently and used both, your QKDark theme and the nouveKDEGray icons. I love the result! Still I am busy exploring and trying all the bells and whistles, but I am already very happy with the looks.

I submitted two screenshots of the current state here and here .

Thanks a lot for sharing your great work!

Thank you for your encouraging words!

QKDark was what of I could make out of QtCurve. Now I'm working on forking QuantumStyle to make something really usable out of it, with an elegant dark theme.

It would be foolhardy to claim that any software were perfect, but QKDark gives a *damn* *good* *look* to my system. I have not even managed (yet) to break that good look with my playing around and trying changes. Sometimes I have slight inconsistencies with the opacity of menus, but that feature is clearly labeled "experimental" and I don't have any inconveniences like crashes or the like. So I am very happy with my system and QKDark.

But I am glad to know that you work on something that you as the expert think to be even more promising. So far the only far fetched feature wish (in a sense of "I'd like to try that on my system but am not even sure I'd like it") would be "vertical titlebars" (see this screenshot of phleagol for an example). It may make sense on a 16:9 screen resolution, like I have here.

Anyway: I have seen your QuantumStyle screenshot , very impressive! - and I am looking forward to whatever you will achieve with your QS fork. So take my "Good work!" and "Thanks!" as an encouragement and go on with your great work.

Kvantum is publicly available now (kde-look.org/content/show.php/… . I did't put it here because it's an app.

Thanks a lot!

My QS fork is called Kvantum. It supports vertical toolbars or anything else vertical but vertical titebars are the job of WM.

TheΒ QSΒ screenshot you mentioned was only the beginning.Β Kvantum will be ready soon. All the major work is done. Now I'm writing a help on theme making for it. I think I'll release it in a few weeks.

nice work! excellent.....
tried everything out with the nouveKDEgray icons and all.... really cohesive!
This works well with the KAwoken icons set as well
only thing is, on my laptop the close, maximise, minimise buttons appear very small
but on the desktop, they're nice.... size is perfect on a hi-res large monitor

Thanks a lot!

You could change the titlebar buttons size in QtCurve's configuration dialog -> the Window Manager tab -> Titlebar text padding. Change it from -2 to 0 or greater.

I'm glad you like it.

The wallpaper is just one of hundreds of nature wallpapers, which I've collected one by one during several years and use as a slideshow. I really don't remember where I found it.

Thank you. I have a feeling that it's a bit too dark but I may be wrong. What if some color near #3B3B3E is used instead of #313131 for win bg?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

miguelsanchez666 In reply to tsujan [2013-03-15 14:42:07 +0000 UTC]

It's not too dark at all. It's suppose to be dark theme isn't it?
#3B3B3E looks good as well.
Here is my colour scheme I got to match my new wallpaper: [link]

BTW, your KDE is so elegant!
