Description ...on both sides.

Sometimes, when I'm outside, I really become paranoid I imagine, what people think about me and my hijab while they are staring et me (even if they don't do).
Then I stop and I think of all the other possible reasons, that make people look at me. And I realize that as Muslims we are often too sensitive and we are at risk to make the same mistakes, that we face: We generalize.

You know, I have many non-muslim friends and I very rarely faced any racist-based acts of hatred. And the few cases were merely ridiculous, alhamdulillah (thank God).

So we need tolerance on both sides.
As Muslims we need to leave behind the role of a victim and be more confident - and I mean self-confidence as well as some more trust in our fellow men. We can't cooperate while being suspicious towards each other.

Please note:
"Infidels" isn't meant seriously, it's not the word I would choose myself, that's why I put it in quotes. Rather I wanted to show, that the girl on the right side thinks, that the muslim girl will call her "infidel". So her own interpretation makes her be offended.

Brother Nayzak reminded me, that Allah said in the holy Qur'an: "O you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin..."

It's really a shame how if we give attention to religion, it can be misconstrued as contempt. In honesty, I'm pretty interested in the Islamic faith! I myself am Christian, but learning about the beliefs and practices is interesting to me. Even so, it's never ok to condemn someone for their beliefs and faith!

Sad but true.Β

If I look at a Muslim woman it's usually because I think her hijab is cool. There's one woman who came into the store I work at a few times wearing a pink hijab with a baseball cap over it. IDK why, but I just love how that looked.Β

I sometimes see women wearing a hijab, I think the hijabs are pretty too.

"You filth"
"Filthy creature"
"Don't touch that, It'll be as foul as you are"
"Nadjes-ol-Ain" (Filth in nature)
"Dog"
"Traitor"
"We should have wiped you people out ages ago"
"Hey can I ask you something? Why do you worship false gods?"
"Such a shame your faith is mentioned in the Qur'an, Or we would have killed you dogs off"
"How dare you even talk to us?"
The above sentences are just some of the insults I, As a religious minority, encountered from Muslims in several countries, Including but not limited to: Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Iran. I have never insulted Islam, Not even in the privacy of my room, So why must I be treated this way? And how do such people expect me to feel amity towards oppressed Muslims in other countries?

They sound like the worst of the Muslim society and if they believe in their religion they will be answered for that on "judgement day"

I am very sorry to hear that.. I cannot tell how sad it makes me to read that you have encountered this hate. I have many friends from all kinds of faith and beliefs and it's my task and yours to keep strong and to refuse the hate these people are spreading. From human to human I am telling you: Thank you for not responding to them in the same manner. This is a sign of honor and strength - please stay like this.Β

There are two points I forgot to mention:
1. The areas I visited were not necessarily the most cultured, Mostly smaller towns with small (And highly conservative) populations (Archaeological digs can take you anywhere, Even in the middle of the desert).
2. The people I met were not necessarily the best of the Muslim society.
Thus, It's safe to assume such encounters, While still painful, Were in no way representative of the true Islam. They were mostly Muslims in name only, Who had never even read the Quran.

If I remember correctly (I have read the Quran, Multiple times), The term "Jihad" has been mentioned around 40-50 times (Needless to say "Jihad" meaning "Defense against those who have invaded your lands", And also that it cannot be issued by any random individual), While the terms "Peace", "Serenity" and similar words are mentioned over 300 times. This should give a good idea of the religion Islam is supposed to be.
