Description Update: Sold. But I can make more just like it.

I originally created this woodsman hat and quiver to wear at a Robin Hood themed weekend at Koroneburg Ren Fair in Corona, California.

I bought a forest green linen dress that I altered into a peasant tunic (not shown) as well as a green leather skirt and a green belt for 35 cents.

The skirt was cut up and recycled to create this woodsman style hat an quiver. I also used the belt as the strap for the quiver. The feather was naturally shed from a Green Wing Macaw that belonged to my old land lord. Holding it to the hat is an antique wood and brass button.

The arrows were something that I already had laying around. I bought them years ago at an Indian Reservation near the Grand Canyon during a random road trip.

The hat pattern is my own design. The quiver was simple enough that I sewed it without using a pattern.

Want a hat like this?
Prices range from $30-45 depending on leather/feather options. Note me if you're interested.

Hi, thanks for your interest. I do make these to sell, but I've temporarily disabled the etsy listing because I don't have the supplies at the moment and the pattern I have for this is packed away (we are getting ready to move.)  I will re-activate the listing once I have the supplies. I've had multiple people wanting red versions for Prince Philip hats, so I will try to find red leather as well as green and brown. Thanks!

Are you still making quivers?

I don't believe I have the leather for it right now. It's just leather scrap folded over and sewn, very easy to make.  Thanks for asking though.

Excuse typo, I meant Green Arrow.

His hat slightly changes all the time, depending on the artist.
I have this one currently for sale, it would work great as a Green Lantern hat: [link] ?

Thank you.

Too pointy. The top is usually round, and the brim becomes square instead of a point

Oh well. There are many patterns out there, and many other sellers on etsy who offer different types of woodsman hats. I'm sure you will find what you're looking for. Good luck.

Which is the correct way to carry the quiver: on the back or on the belt?

This particular one is designed to go over the back.

Great work!!

tursiart In reply to ajthemistress [2011-09-24 15:10:12 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. I would post a pic, but I don't have any really nice photos from the day I was wearing it and I haven't had a reason to wear it since. I'm kind of picky about having *good* quality photos to show off my work. It's like my space girl costumes... I posted this deviation: [link] because it was the only photos I had, but they're kind of crappy pics and it's never sat well with me.
But anyway, thank you so much for your comment! Maybe I'll wear this again for Halloween and make sure I get some snazzy pics.

I absolutely love it!!!! Did you use a pattern?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

tursiart In reply to EmeraldRose3 [2011-05-18 16:47:55 +0000 UTC]

Oh, and I didn't use a pattern at all for the quiver. I just winged it in one go.

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

tursiart In reply to EmeraldRose3 [2011-05-18 16:45:06 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. I didn't have a pattern. I just looked at pictures of similar hats on google image search, then I created some test patterns with newspaper. I made three patterns before I had a look I liked.

EmeraldRose3 In reply to tursiart [2011-05-18 16:49:33 +0000 UTC]

wow im jealous. I'm always completely lost without patterns

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tursiart In reply to EmeraldRose3 [2011-05-18 17:29:24 +0000 UTC]

The final is actually a very easy pattern. I'm just a perfectionist. I wanted to over exaggerate the features as much as possible while still making it wearable and not silly looking.
