Nice arts but..they don't feel realistic...at all.

Want something more constructive?
Ok.
Just getting the pokemon's design and making them look realistic dosen't make them realistic.
My best example here is your chikorita,it dosen't look like any real animal, just,a thing.
Or your charmander, that looks like a 80's tyrannosarus.
What i mean,is if you want to make them ''Realistic'' change some parts of their design and make them look like real animals.[
Or just continue what you are doing but make them ''Realistic Looking''.

Now, that's much better commentary. And I can actualy see someone's point, and even learn from it. And what's more, properly reply to it.
While I agree with your view on the Charmander being unimaginative (keep in mind that one was made in early 2011 as an unrelated painting test, and also the fact I really want to remade it, with few others, since like 2014 but I can't find the time for that), and my only exuse from my past me is that I wanted it to evolve into a classic lookin' dragon (hence the archosaurish features), I see my Chikorita vast superior over Charmander. The reason for that is the fact I actualy thought more further into the design (along with biochemistry inside) before I began to work. In fact, Chikorita may the most uncreative or the most creative thing from me at the same time - because it is a Camarasaurus skeleton and skull, squashed inside the flesh. And wheter is that original or not, I leave that to the viewer.
"What i mean,is if you want to make them ''Realistic'' change some parts of their design and make them look like real animals."
This is what I do, in my view, at least. But also I try to keep the pokemon species intact (whenever is it possible, beause for example, shellfish has little to do with Blastoise, not to mention some translation flaws in the early days), with the Gamefreak's design still being recognizable (even if it's a fish that turns into an octopus).
And my general idea is that - those are fantasy critters, from the world where aliens and other dimention monsters walk around, physics acts weird, and people may as well be pokemon. And as for that, I try to avoid standard Earth's animal apparence (like for example - Persian would end as a Puma-like animal - so why even bother doing it? But what Typhlosion could look like? Is it a shrew, is it a dog, is it a bear, or a honey badger?
Or maybe, it is something totaly different, unknown from the Earth's taxa? Maybe it is not a mammal at all (the only reason why all those mammalian looking pokemon are so similar to ours, is convergent evolution)! Or maybe it belongs to an Earth's living taxa, but the branch could never came to exist in our universe? And now, here's where it gets interesting.
To conclude, for the reasons above, I can't just turn Chikorita into a tortoise, nor a small everyday sauropod (and that's why I find my Squirtle one of the most flawed retakes - as it's basicaly upright turtle without any creativity in it!).
But how about deforming the sauropod's features and make them work until a such Chikorita reaches maturity (here: Meganium), and mixing that with the characteristic fatty apparence of the first sprites and official art? Will I be able to maintain its "blob" shape and big google-y eyes in the retake? Will it still stay Chikorita-ish enough, or will it end like an everyday animal?
Well, from my perspective, I did pretty good in this one. And altrough I wasn't able to render the skin texture as I imagined, at the time, I think it still holds up pretty well, after all those years.
Thank you for explaining your point. And I hope you enjoyed one of my wall textes (though, exuse me of any English typos I could possibly made, as I'm not native speaker), and I hope I explained why I think Chikorita is actualy one of the better retakes I did (along with the general thought process behind the series). Yet, I agree with the Charmander and I did intend to remake it, and I hope someday I do that - if the time and money allow me that to do.

For Those who dont kno....
Cyndaquil (Japanese: γγγ’γ©γ· Hinoarashi) is a Fire-type PokΓ©mon.
It evolves into Quilava starting at level 14, which evolves into Typhlosion starting at level 36.
Along with Chikorita and Totodile, Cyndaquil is one of the three starter PokΓ©mon of Johto available at the beginning of PokΓ©mon Gold
Biology
Cyndaquil is a small, bipedal PokΓ©mon with bluish fur on top of its body, and a milky color on the underside. Cyndaquil seems to be a composite of features from the echidna and the shrew. The echidna features are the flames from its back, while its general body shape is shrew-like. Its eyes are often closed and it has a long, thin snout. It lacks claws on its forelimbs, but has a single claw on each hind foot. Cyndaquil is usually timid by nature and often curls into a ball when intimidated. It has four red spots on its back from which its flames erupt. Cyndaquil is capable of defending itself using these flames. The fire grows more powerful as Cyndaquil becomes more angry or defensive. Though rare in the wild, few can be found living on grasslands.
