Make them smile; Get them moving, and inspire their imagination. That is part of the art of freelance mascotting. It's also good to interact with your audience, and get them to do more than just stand there in front of the camera. One of my favorite poses for 2014 has been the "point", where the people you are with point at the photographer. The smiles become more genuine, I think.
