Description From Othello, which I read last saturday. designed based oh-so-vaguely off Ewan Macgregor when he played the role in London over the summer.

I think my favorite part of these drawings is the nick in his eyebrow.

also, happy easter.

I don't really like it... (I play Iago!) I don't think Iago has a beard... if anything he has a mustache. And I think his hair should be brown, and overall, I think he looks too old. He's only 28 (it says in the text). But, it's your interpretation, and nice try!

I know he's evil, but I love Iago!

Have you seen the movie version with Kenneth Branagh as Iago? I DIED it was so awesome haha.

Iago's by far one of my favorite characters not just in Shakespeare, but in all literature. He's such a dick for no reason. I mean, he gives a bunch of reasons, but they're all pretty much made up. "He promoted Cassio over me." "He's sleeping with my wife, maybe. So is Cassio perhaps." It's like he doesn't know why he's doing what he's doing, and has to make it up every time he thinks about it.

Back to the Picture, though, I really think you've captured Iago here. Great work!

Branagh is pretty good! No kidding.

Iago is pretty marvelous. I think what's best about him is that you can really interpret his motivations any way you please. Like, personally, I've always thought that he acts out of a place of... something like misguided love. That he has this love for Othello, and feeling that he should be first in Othello's affections, and when that is disrupted by Cassio and Desdemona, he's really hurt over it. And has all this cleverness with which to do something about it.

Thanks!

I cannot see Iago as anything but this design now. I tried drawing him my own way, but it seriously looks like this design with the only difference being shorter hair and an actual smile. (lol I phail.)

That's so very very flattering!

I really love the idea of a very light, handsome, charming Iago. I think the text really implies that he's a nice, likable guy most of the time (and has been a nice, likable, trustworthy guy for as long as anyone's known him), with a darker, sharper side that no one sees until it's too late.

I'm all about smiles. Iago should smile, I think. I always thought of him as a sortof jovial villain anyway.

I'm doing a RP with my girlfriend and our Iago isn't much of a smiler (I think it's half because he's surrounded by people who are either drunk, insane, or both in one case. The other half is it's post Othello and he's managed to bribe his way out of jail and he's wifeless, poor thing.)

I kind of like him being the type that used to smile but doesn't much anymore. It makes it more fun to coax a smile out of him. And the moment's so much better when he does smile. (Also, against a character such as Benedick, from Much Ado about Nothing, Iago's no smiles is a perfect companion to Benedick's jolly constant grin.)

He's going to be smiling a hell of a lot more, now, though. (Totally in the middle of a crack pairing now ftw. XD)

God, when he does smile, though, I swear. He's adorable. I just want to pinch his cheeks! (But then he'd stop smiling and glare at me. XD)

Hooray for Iago! Absolutely my favorite Shakespeare character ever! Though I had always imagined him to have dark hair... Oh well. He's cute as a blonde.

I love Iago too! He's just fantastically interesting.

I thought, in my colour decision making process, that Iago should be as opposite to Othello as possible, so... blonde! And I guess I think that dark hair is more implicative of villainy, and I like to switch it up, make Iago more like everyone else thinks he is, you know?
