i'm a beginner, so it can be overwhelming, but over time you can get used to the interface of Krita. The similarities to Photoshop and the pros are MUCH worth it!

File >> Export as .jpg or .png
Don't save your working file that way though. The default .kra keeps layer and is way faster.

Hello there,
I hope you can answer my simliar question too.
I have the 3.0 version and no matter as what I export or save it, it still keeps only viewable with Krita or ends up as a long code.
The only way to make it "useable" is to make a screanshot and cut it out, but that's not the way.
I hope you can help me, and sorry for my little english vocabulary.

TysonTan In reply to Cheapcheans [2016-06-24 01:06:37 +0000 UTC]
A file name looks like this: "abcdef.xxx" , it has 2 parts. The ".xxx" part is called extension, it describes what the file format is. You have to rename it accordingly to save as a specific format. To save as PNG, you must name the file as: "abcdef.png".

Thank you very much, maybe you could tell how to cut too.
I searched the whole program and found some phases wich had to do with cutting, but no one did anything,
And the the phrase "cut sharp" isn't openable

TysonTan In reply to Cheapcheans [2016-06-24 08:04:42 +0000 UTC]
You must SELECT something to CUT.
The Selection tools are located at the 5th row from bottom of the Tool Box.
After a selection is established, use Ctrl+C to copy, Ctrl+X to cut and Ctrl+V to paste.
The pasted content will be on a new layer.
You can use Transform Tool or Move tool from the middle of the tool box to move and manipulate them.

Thank you very very much,
But I have one last question, I somehow deleted the section on the right side where you could see all brushes, the colours and the layers.
I tried it with : Settings- docking- layers... but I only got the colour back.
The brushes are not so the problem, I can change them on other menues, but I woud like to have something again where I could see and change the layers.
At the moment I couldn't find any possibility to see them again.

Settings >> Dockers >> Brush Preset
If it's checked, look at the right column of your Krita window more carefully. They might be there, just hidden behind other dockers because they are tabbed.
You can also use the rightmost button in the toolbar to reload Krita's default layout.

Cheapcheans In reply to TysonTan [2016-06-24 13:03:58 +0000 UTC]
It doesn't work, when I dock it, it only appears as a small phrase on the bottom I can't see anything, and if I go on (I don't know the english word) I can bring the phrase a little bit hihger, but theres only a grey space, and I had about 20 layers.
If I go on default, still the colour triangle in a big grey bar and fills the right side totally, the layer and brush fields are just small empty phrases on the bottom.
I even deleted and reinstalled krita, but it didn't help too.

There is a small arrow like this: |> on the left most of each docker's title. Click it and you will be able to expand the docker.
And remember to open/create a document when you manage the workspace, otherwise things will gray out.

Cheapcheans In reply to TysonTan [2016-06-24 15:42:26 +0000 UTC]
There was always one open with about 20 layers,
If you mean this : <-||->, it worked, but the spaces are still empty, the one of the brushes too.
There is not something like a reset, isn't it?

If you installed Krita 2.8 before, it could be the settings file messed up with the newer one. Uninstalling alone is not going to resolve that. Search your harddrive for "kritarc" and delete might help.

Or you actually needed 2.9 (whichis beta2 now): krita.org/item/krita-2-9-beta-…
To me, Krita gets faster every release. It runs pretty well on modern entry level PCs. I think what makes Krita slow on your PC was caused by the implementation of OpenGL support since 2.7.
In Menu > Settings > Configure Krita you can switch OpenGL ON/OFF and adjust the filter, by tuning those features down you may trade speed for quality.
I would like to know about your PC's spec to further investigate this problem and report it to the dev team for future improvement. Please share the following information about your PC:
* CPU model and frequency
* Memory size and speed
* Graphics card
You can use CPUinfo and GPUinfo (search them in Google) to obtain those information.
Also something about your software:
* Operation system
* Is the Operation system 32bit or 64bit
* Is Krita 32bit or 64bit

Okay, I was just asking because I would like to give this program I try, has it got a good pen pressure and a powerful blending tool?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
TysonTan In reply to Manga-Samurai [2014-01-23 17:10:29 +0000 UTC]
Krita has great pressure support under GNU/Linux, but probably not yet under Windows. I suppose Krita 2.8 beta is doing a better job. I don't really use blending tool often, but consider Krita is a digital painting tool that emphasize real life tool imitation, I guess it has the relevant function. You can find those tools as brushes.

TysonTan In reply to Manga-Samurai [2014-01-23 17:26:36 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, one of my reasons to give up Windows was I want to use Krita and it didn't work well under Windows. Krita 2.8 has a lot of improvement on Windows, but it seems there is much to do.

As for the Windows version, it is independently BUILT. But the development of Calligra and Krita is not separated. You may want to have a look here: projects.kde.org/projects/call…
