I feel bad for uploading "spoilery" stuff now... So mature warning go.This is a picture of a newly released pokemon so if you have vowed to avoid all new pokemon spoilers, run with swiftness!
Edit: The game's been out so long don't need a spoiler warning anymore.
Alright.
I think this is absolutely my favourite gen 6 pokemon, its design is so adorable and it is a really neat concept in general (even if it's used more often in rpgs, I still think it has an undeniable charm to it~)

More used in RPG games? Do you mean that it's overused or that pokemon isn't an RPG game? Because the first one is accurate but the second one, not so much.

I mean that haunted swords are kinda rpg game trope. I wanted to avoid spoiling exactly what the picture depicted for those who didn't want to find out what it was.
Pokemon is a rpg and it really trips me out when I realize that the monsters are comparable to the random monsters you fight in Final Fantasy and whatever. (rather than being you know, pokemon)

The original line-drawing had "what the fuck did you say about me motherfucker" next to the Honedge.
I think the story was that I was chatting with my friend about how Honedge should be her character's spirit pokemon -> drew that character as a honedge and one of mine as a Ralts.
Other than that history, there isn't anything super deep to the picture other than the two parties preparing to throw down. :3

Honedge is my new favourite too! And ralts is my gen 3 favourite! So basically I love this
The lighting effects on the black background look really intense! People underestimate the power of a good 'ol purple/cyan contrast.

Much better than orange + cyan which is INSANELY overused. (I mean eww.. it dun even look good..)

The orange-cyan thing is probably so popular because it¨s the contrast between warm and cool... almost-complementary colors and stuff. I'd love to know who was the first one to figure that it looks good on a movie/game poster.
(uhuhu, I think it looks neat but it's way overused. ;W; I'm always easily swayed by pretty colors..!)
Indeed, I think it's really cool when there's fake eyes and mouths in designs and when they are dynamic (like when the sword comes from the scabbard the eyes and mouth disappear). It also makes the scabbard itself more... animated? when it changes appearance like that once the sword is inside. Otherwise it'd be less like a part of the pokemon and more like a piece of equipment.
