Description
(EDIT 5-15-2020) Redid Typhoon's shading colors and his combat information.
-= Ninmenjushin: Typhoon =-
- Age: 18
- Height: 5'11"
- Weight: 182 lbs
- Gender: Male
- Specie: Faebairn (Suiro)
- Nationality: Japanese
- Home: Kairiku, Japan
- Real name: Kimo Mashira
Nobody really knows where Kimo Mashira came from. What is known is that he became fast friends with Zenmei Gekkani when they were but children - after all, there weren't any other half-Yokai people around like them. From then on, they stuck together like glue, play-fighting at the beach in games of Pirates and perfecting their Yokai-granted powers. He also happened to be adopted to a small family of Tanuki that moved over to Kairiku from an area close to Osaka, and attends school posing as a normal human. Since he can take on the form of a Suiro (sea dragon Yokai), it's believed that he's one of the humans descended from the bloodline of the Great Yokai God Susano'o.
Under the nickname "Typhoon", he quickly became a legend among the Yokai living in secret in Kairiku, resolving conflicts and capturing thieves and such. For the longest time, he was one of the few who was fully privy to Zenmei's secret. With the Akuma appearing around the city, it was time to put his skills to the test. After all, there's something he's been seeking out for the past 10 years...
-= SOCIAL =-

- Cons: Reserved, stubborn, prideful, won't talk about his past, can't drive or use stoves/ovens
- Likes: The ocean, classical culture, fishing, deep-sea swimming, exercise, training
- Dislikes: Skipping training, anyone who tortures animals, buying replacement phones
-= COMBAT =-
- Skills: Naginatajutsu, wrestling, advancing defenses, deep-sea swimming
- Gear: Fang of Susano'o, Moon Snail charm
- Vector: Water/Wind
- Idea: Tatsumakigai
-= WATER VECTOR =-
- Water attacks: Compresses water into dense projectiles.
- Fast healing: Accelerates healing through his blood, including curing ailments.
- Rain dance: Gathers spiritual power to conjure a rainstorm.
-= WIND VECTOR =-
- Wind blades: Compresses air into nigh-invisible blades.
- Tornadoes: Swirls air into small to large tornadoes.
- Mach cone: Forms supersonic shears of air around self, diverting attacks away.
-= FANG OF SUSANO'O =-
- Apparently a family heirloom, though he's not clear on the details. This naginata is surprisingly tough, and it has a seashell-shaped head like a monk's spade on the other end.
- One swing of its glaive head is said to be able part through a whole sea, from the bottom up - but Typhoon has yet to deny or confirm this claim.
-= MOON SNAIL CHARM =-
- Some humans of Yokai descent usually draw out or store their Yokai power with a charm. This allows Kimo to assume a guise of normalcy when he's not fighting as a Suiro.
-= Idea: TATSUMAKIGAI, Swirling to Eternity =-
- Spin Force: Generates small vortexes that can spin objects at a point.
- Storm Vortex: Summons a vortex that absorbs most energies and distorts nearby gravity.
- Devouring Vortex: Summons a vortex that captures a target and warps it to Typhoon's midst.
- Wormhole Shift: Summons a vortex to teleport through, or warps through an existing vortex.
-= INSPIRATIONS =-
- The Honorable Urashima Taro
- Hinoka (Fire Emblem Fates/Fire Emblem Warriors)
- Spin (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run)
- Zoras (The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time)
- Applejack (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic)
- Percy Jackson (Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief)
- Undyne (Undertale)
- Pearl (Steven Universe)
- Dorothy Gale (The Wonderful Wizard of Oz)
-= TRIVIA =-
- Idea: Tatsumakigai comes from "tatsumaki" (tornado) and "makigai" (spiral shell) - the latter referencing the Moon Snail shell that he wears.
- The moon snail's shell represents the continuity of life.
- With the realization at how well the main cast of Ninmenjushin can connect with Oz characters, I realized that Typhoon bears quite a bit in common with the protagonist Dorothy Gale. That's why he's wearing silver greaves as a nod to her silver slippers - lined with a ruby red as a nod to MGM's Wizard of Oz movie, which replaced the silver slippers with ruby slippers to make the most of the technicolor innovation.
- If anyone's wondering, no, Yokai don't have navels. Only humans do - and most angels, but those are very rarely seen in Japan.
