My eye immediately goes to the red and then up to the hat on the same side. Then it falls off the page.As I return to the image the eyebrows grab me and I follow them to the ear that brings me down to the bottom of the work. Now as the viewer I am directed from enjoyment of the negative forms below on to the red shape and invited to perceive the beauty of the negative shape offered above. The texture of the straw hat contrasts with the white of the background forms. The composition is pleasing and although unusual, works. Each time I view this work anew, I find another direction to enjoy. Thanks for the beauty of this work and the pleasure it evokes with each viewing.
