Description Anyone who has spent some time playing with me in WoW know that I like to name my characters with a common base name. Almost all my characters are named “Glynn”. For example, my main druid is named “Glynnii”, while my warlock is named “Glynnor”. My reasoning for doing this was to make it easier for my guildies and friends to refer to my toons by name, regardless of which character I was on.

This was over 5 years ago when I first started in WoW, so imagine my surprise when I happened to be walking around Auberdine and noticed a certain NPC. She was a Night Elf Sentinel named “Glynda Nal’Shae”, and being a bit of an RP’er, I instantly formed a bond with her. Obviously, I loved her name, so I had to build a back story for my Night Elf toons who were named “Glynn”.

So in my RP world, Glynda is not just a hard-working sentinel stationed in Dark Shore, she’s also the woman who adopted my priest, hunter and druid when they were orphaned children. It was during the first conflicts between the Kaldorei and the newly-arrived Orcs that Glynda came upon these three kids, over the course of several years.

In this scene, we see Glynda cuddling little baby Glynnii, who would grow up later to be a proud druid of the Cenarion Circle. To her right is Glynnel, her rambunctious older sister, and future hunter with the eyes of a hawk. You can see more of Glynnel's later adventures here: [link] . Their elder brother, Glynnoch, was always buried in studies, and all those books would come in handy in the future when he embarked on the path of priesthood.

When I first learned that Auberdine was being destroyed in the Cataclysm, with much loss of life, I was immediately concerned about Glynda’s fate. So it was with great relief when I finally logged into the game after installing the expansion and discovered that Glynda was one of the few survivors of Auberdine and had been re-assigned to the new town of Lor’danel, where she continues to offer quests to young adventurers. Any time I’m in Dark Shore, I make a point to visit her, so the next time you’re at Lor’Danel, take a second to say hello to my WoW mum!

First off, this is -adorable-. Secondly, I think it's so awesome that you came up with this whole backstory due to an NPC! And such a good idea, too. ^_^ Looks great hun! <3

I actually can relate, I do a few similar things with NPCs :u

Glad you liked the picture! My main realm is a North American server, but I also play on an Oceanic realm, too.

Silver Hand is my N.American realm, and it's also the RP realm, although hardly anyone RP's there anymore. If you ever drop by, look for my druid, Glynnii, or my paladin, Lyxis. On the same server on horde side, is my mage, Glynnee.

Glynda used to catch my eye a lot because of her name, too. Whenever I see her now, it always reminds me of your druid Glynnii

It was a total surprise when I saw her name for the first time. It was like being introduced to a long lost relative. Heh, it's probably the closest I'll ever come to having an NPC named after me.

Hehe...I was hoping I might find a long-lost-relative NPC amongst the Dickensian English worgen, lol
Lorna Crowley has become one of my favourite NPCs, though, and a couple of the blokes in the start area do look a little bit like my dad!

This is some really nice background story to youre characters, and aslo a good usage of a existing character in the game. And its not over the top either as some people tend to do like *my character is the secret love child between Varian and Jaina* and so on.

First of all, the picture is very heart warming, you really get the feeling of a happy and strong family with this one.

Secondly, yeah, I know this *creating a backstory* issue to characters aswell. Even though I dont play on a rp server, I cant help to imagine back stories for my characters.

Like my DK worgen, Human warrior, killed in battle in Northrend, became a death knight, and later on bitten.

Even my Draenei hunter is back in the game now. She's lv 30 now, since the original version of her got transfered to horde on another server. But if she would have a backstory, I would say that she got wounded during the cataclysm, went back to her home in Nagrand to heal, and is gonna return to Azeroth when she's ready.

Heh, I am always wary of Mary Sue characters ("My uncle is Death Wing and I am a god!"). I try to keep all characters' back stories simple and believable. I like the idea of regular people placed in extraordinary scenarios and rising to the occasion.

People often make fun of players who RP, but something as simple as developing a story for your characters makes the game that much more fun and rewarding to play.

Thanks for the nice comments on the picture!

Sadly, my RP server has very little RP anymore, and I would never admit to doing RP to anyone in the 'real world'. Luckily DA isn't the real world!
