Because they are so similar in drawing style, I wanted to compare.And inspiration for struggling artists!

i love how it looks like she went from being a 14 or 15 year old in the first one to looking like a 22-23 year old in the newer one. so much improvement done in 4 years. Great job.

I can clearly see improvements other than the boobs volume, If that's what's wrong with me...I'm sorry for you that there's nothing wrong with you.
Maybe you can visit to gain a little practise evaluating art progress, perhaps starting with yourself?

I can definitely see the areas of improvement between the two. The original one you did looks more Disney in style, and some of that is missing in the newer one, but there is vast improvement on technique, color, and even cleanliness of the piece. I noticed the newer mermaid has a face resembling the style of Lisa Frank.
Overall, I do like your newer piece better because of the improvement of techniques. I also like the improvement of background, which looks more sea-watery and less fresh-watery.

Well the comparison is all about the improvemant of the drawing skills and coloring techique. My style chenges a lot over the years and Ariel is that one character I draw in many many different styles

I must say I like your new style more than the 2007 style.
Forgive me but the first thing I thought was "The hands improved the most!" XD
I adore the depth of colour, shading, and details of the 2011 Ariel.

I like the old one better becouse it looks more like Disney's Ariel. Of course it doesn't mean I don't appreciate the progress you made, there is a lot more details and background much better and so does shadows, it is just a shame that you make your new Ariel so modern. She looks like a Barbie or like she had plastic surgery on her mouth to make them biger.
But you are still amazing artist and I hope you will draw Ariel even more often

I love how over the few years (2007 - 2011) Ariel has really hit puberty and grown 5 bra sizes (at least). Lovely work I am so impressed with the improvement you've done amazing work here I am so impressed and I only look forward to myself being able to do such dramatic and wonderful improvements. I love the original 2007 version you did, this is really wonderful and lovely and you should be very proud of it but now your talents are far far more amazing you've developed wonderfully and it really shows how much work, practice and effort you've put into this. I really really love the 2011 version I am really impressed. I upuntil a week ago have never had a tablet and now I do I hope to be able to improve my digital drawings and paintings to at least you 2007 standard!!! Brilliant, lovely and very impressed... wonderful.

I'm sure get great as you get started, I actually did the 2007 version first on paper and redo it in photoshop, using only mouse

All my art up until a week ago was done with laptop touchpad/trackpad (which ever you wish to call it) using my right hands index finger lol... But I borrowed a couple of linearts to practice on the tablet before jumping in with my own piece created from reference lol. But I feel I'm improving
