My second attempt at a crossover of Egyptian temple/tomb art and anime. I think this one turned out much better than my first - it looks much more like Kagome, if nothing else. And, yes, I realize that the eye is wrong for Egyptian art. It should be front view, but it just doesn't look right with an anime-style eye. The other thing is, this picture has no shading/hightlighting. Just like with the temple/tomb paitings of ancient Egypt, it's straight cel coloring.Anyway, another inspiration from the Inuyasha AU fanfic I'm writing, "Temple of the Dog". There's just something about the characters wearing the clothing of ancient Egypt that I can't resist, so I'm planning some more of these. I'll also be doing more typical anime-style pictures of some of the characters, as the muses strike.
Find REAL art for my story over at - I know I'm not much of an artist, but I'm having fun with these and will continue them.

Thanks! I'm glad you like the style - it was a bit awkward at first, drawing Egyptian style, but keeping the faces anime style...especially the eyes, which are never seen side-view in Egyptian art. But, it seems alot of people like how they look, so I must have done something right. Anyway, thanks again!

Thanks. It makes me want to go back and re-do the first one, especially since I made a banner for the fanfic using it. Inuyasha needs a re-vamp, too, although I have a million ideas for pictures from the story - just not enough time and talent to really do want I want for it, unfortunately.

Well, I'd suggest you draw a scene YOU like, since it's your heart going into the picture. I have my own favorite parts, but others might like different things. I just love even still, romantic Inuyasha/Kagome pictures of them dressed in the ancient Egyptian clothing. Especially Inuyasha - he looks too good in that filmy Egyptian kilt and not much else. Hehehe.

Thanks. I can't believe how much fun these things are to do - and easy. Heck, there's no shading involved, and even the background is just limestone colored and then texturized with a filter.
The one I'm working on right now (and will be posting in just a little bit) is strictly anime style, but I have to say it's turning out better than I had hoped, and I'm starting to really think perhaps I AM getting a bit better. Watch for it!

Thanks. Since I'm writing an AU fanfic set in ancient Egypt, I thought I'd take a shot at doing some fanart for it - in the Egyptian style, more or less (with some heavy anime influence, too). Very nice touch, the eyes! It makes you look twice. And I like the pose as well. Actually it kinda looks like it's nefertit w/ her hair down...and I like the way you did the hands. It fits both styles well. Do the hireoglyphics spell out her name?

Thanks so much. Actually, I copied the pose from a picture I found on-line. So, you can credit the pose and all from that. I used a picture of Kagome to do her head and face, though, and I'm rather happy with how it turned out (quite a difference from the one I did a while back).
Yes, as best as I could, I put her name in hieroglypics, but since the Egyptian alphabet isn't directly translatable to English (or Japanese), it's not 100% correct. The last symbol is "e", but the Japanese "e" is actually pronounced like our long "a", and there is no long "a" in Egyptian. It looks good, though, and most people probably won't notice (except now that I've pointed it out).

Thanks so much! It is a blending of the styles, after all, and if you look at how the Egyptians did their eyes in their art, it wouldn't look a thing like Kagome.

Thanks. Actually, the pose was taken right from the little picture I used for reference. I've always loved Egypt, and being able to draw my favorite anime characters in that style is so much fun!

Yeah, Egypt is pretty interesting, although I've always been a big fan of the Aztec (did I spell that right?) and Maya cultures, and of course anything that had to do with Native Americans. And nowadays I'm big into Japanese culture.... hmm, I wonder why

Heck, I love ALL the ancient cultures. I love people in general, and learning about the differences from place to place is great. I'm into ethnic cooking - mostly Japanese right now (and you can figure out why there). Of course, the US is the melting pot of the world, so it's a good place to get the flavors of many different cultures.
