done some beautiful work! but to be called a prodigy is ridiculous! all love to throw colour around. its fun.... but it takes many years to understand and become an abstract artist. it just cheapens it for those of us who have been slogging away for decades.ο»Ώ recommend my favorite artists Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Frida Kahlo, Roberto Matta Gabino amaya cacho and Pablo Picasso. Essentially I agree. There is a lot of hyperbole going on on dA and words like "prodigy" get tossed around all too easily.Β
It also takes a lot more to be an abstract artist than just moving colour. This piece is from 2006 BTW, so it IS from more than a decade ago.Β
Somehow, it is the work by me with most page views. I think this is because of the title "abstract" which makes the algorithms produce it in results for people who search for abstract.

Hmmm... that's a good question. As far as I can remember, it was pretty spontaneous and the first abstract I had painted in a long while.
Not sure if that's enough to classify it as an action painting. The paint is pretty thick and I did not use any of the dripping techniques.
How would you define an action painting?
