NOTE: From this point forward, the Story of Fury takes place in the PRESENT, a year (& so on) after the Crescent Herd first moved in.

A year has passed since the Crescent Herd first moved into Fury's Valley, and their numbers have increased with new members and foals. Fury actually enjoys their company. He doesn't feel so alone. However, he still feels uncomfortable around them, because he is ashamed of what he is. Occasionally he will speak with the leader, Cobalt, in private for news and updates. Otherwise, he spends most of his days circling the valley, watching and listening and guarding his home and his neighbors.

However, even with the company of the Crescent Herd, he feels lonely. Longing for things now far gone. Sometimes he thinks of his first human. That sweet little girl, and how gentle she was; the gentlest hands he'd ever felt. But, most of the time he longs for his Beloved. His body aches for her and his metal becomes cold at the thought of her. Her precious heart is all he has left of her, for she (her heart) is litterally keeping him alive. He feels as if she is still alive somewhere; somewhere unreachable. Somewhere deep inside him where he can no longer touch her warmth. Her pounding heart within him beats so vigorously that it is as if she was trying to escape so as to be with Fury once more.

But she is dead. His Beloved is gone forever. Yet, the memories of her continuously haunt Fury. Appearing as a ghostly figure, she seems to only appear to torture. When he "sees" her she ignores him and disappears when Fury approaches. When she first began appearing, Fury would get frustrated and angry when she would not acknowlege him. But now he is used to it and he sometimes wishes she would just dissappear forever and leave his memories.

And yet, he sometimes feels comforted by her ghostly company.

"If only you could see me now, Beloved." he often whispers to her ghost, "Would you still love me? Would you want me? Would you care anymore?" and when she disappears, he thinks of what was, and what could have been.

we are now in the present!!......this is kind of a depressing chapter i know....but it shows just how much Fury adored The Beloved and still misses her and how deep of a connection he STILL feels. He's having an extremely hard time letting go of her because she is the reason he's still alive!
