so, between new Legend of Korra episodes, I've been fluttering through the first three seasons of A:TLA and gee whiz, do i love them characters. i could stand to do more fanart of the whole franchise, since there's so many fun characters to pick from, but everyone knows IT AIN'T AVATAR IF IT AIN'T GOT TOPH!Toph Beifong is one of those characters that, as soon as they drop into the story, just owns the place henceforth. She's just the right amount of sweet and sour with an arsenal of creative and brutal abilities that lights up the story when she's around.
this was a real quick piece i wanted to finish before work, so i got the bending pose but no elements bent! So i'm going to have to finish it some (or make an ensemble piece!) but i'm mostly happy with it.

Toph looks ready to kick some ass here! She's such a little spitfire for a preteen girl, and I wonder how she'd fare as someone's baby sister. She might torment you, and do weird things as well. I too did a pic of Toph in my artwork, though it is her Season 4 (the Dark Horse comic book effigy), otherwise known as The Promise. I can't decide which looks better; her original look or her later comic-book look, both are good.

Another one of my favourite characters Toph is pure epicness simple as that there are no real words that can describe what an amazing character Toph is. Some people think being blind is a burden but she makes it into an amazing gift I guess I wouldn't mind being in her shoes well feet I don't know xD

I absolutely love Toph as well -- she has to be my favourite in the whole series. Everything about her character is so likeable and original. Great image! I love the use of shading in this one.

to be honest I do miss her T-T but her daughter is so kick ass XDDD. Strict but just a bad ass old woman! Respect!
The characters in Korra aren't as addicting though, I think Toph was my first favorite that really caught my attention in Avatar the Last Airbender (then Mai). Korra is awesome but I have to admit I fell for Tahno XP. Bolin, Mako, and Asami just don't seem too appealing to me (though Bolin I can sympathize with).

If "Legend of Korra" feels like it's lacking in addictive characters, just give it time. It's competing against its own franchise, after all

yes, it is >and yeah I figured that, though I think the romance (while it adds steam) is the one setting it off for me. Seems like they rushed into it. That's why Toph is awesome, she doesn't need a relationship to define her!

Toph... she may not be bending earth in this picture, but she's certainly "bending my mind!"
Deep in the core of my being, I hope that the Earth Rumble competitions are still going on somewhere in the Earth Kingdom and that Toph went back into competing in adulthood in her spare time. Would be both ironic and awesome if the Chief of Police was also known regularly as the Blind Bandit.

I try to convince the people that are stuck in the first season that the best character ever appears in the second season, but they don't really understand...
Toph and Iroh were my fav.

Toph is just cool as hell, but Iroh...he had some of the best moments in the whole series. His little 5 minute vignette in "Tales of Ba Sing Se" had me laughing AND ready to cry. I'll have to do a drawing of him sometime as well.

Lin hasn't got much--if any--of Toph's snark or brattiness, but all of the toughness. She's a good linchpin for the new series, hard as nails and no nonsense.
