me too. We have some little sun birds/Honey eaters that come to our garden too. They're a bit like the humming birds.

i had an amazon yellow nape parrot, and 2 parrakeets.
the parrot was a baby, it was my "buddy", came with me everywhere.

The colors of the lorikeets are really beautiful! Their warm colored feathers with the enviornment they're in just makes me want to be there to see it in person.Β Β

They are very beautiful birds. The ones that have claimedΒ us are very friendly and come here every morning for the food that we buy for them. They are wild lorikeets but, if they like and trust you they will hop on your hand. Sometimes they give you a fright if they land on your head. They started coming here in their hundreds, after Cyclone Yasi in 2011 - Australia's super storm. All of the flowers had been blown away. I fed them bread and fruit. Now only about four families come each day. They even bring their babies and we watch them feed the little ones. It is very "wonderful".

Very touching story about the lorikeets struggle. It's just really cool that they are confortable with your hospitality to even invite their babies over to get fed!
I never heard of this cyclone before but, after looking it up it's pretty crazy how much damage it has caused. Storms can't be stopped and they are very intimidating. Β
After something like that, im sure the lorikeets are scared and hungry having to live in a different enviornment. It's understandable if they have to trust you or anyone at first.
It's good to know you're keeping those beautiful animals alive and to even gain your trust is the most intresting and kindhearted thing I have ever heard!! I have learned a lot today.
It's no wonder you can take fantastic shots of these animal's you have in your gallery. haha!Β Β
