Description Back in 7th Grade, I did a bunch of drawings based on the bosses of Megaman 3, which was the hot new game at the time.

(Yeah, I am old...)

Anyways, here's the main Boss cast, with my own updated designs. I still wanted to make them as close to their original counterparts as possible, so I used a bunch of references. I used the Megaman Knowledgebase Wiki to confirm a bunch of details, but what I used most, mainly for nostalgic inspiration, was my old Nintendo Power issue that featured Megaman 3.

Anyone remember that gem?

Clockwise starting from the upper left we have Top Man, Spark Man, Gemini Man, Hard Man, Shadow Man, Magnet Man, Snake Man and Needle Man. Of these, I think Magnet Man and Snake Man are my favorite redesigns, though Hard Man came out extremely cool.

But there was something else I did with these guys I'm still rather proud of. Let's just say I was underwhelmed by the last boss, Gamma...

Glad you like them! Magnet Man was my personal favorite, but the others practically drew themselves.

I remeber my lil' bro' had gotten that game for his birthday!
I couldn't beat that final boss without a turbo-controller!

There were also the enemy pause and super jump cheats that were fun, but totally broke the game wide open and made it too easy, though. But playing it for real was very satisfying!

The best I can do is recommend a NES emulator. A computer controller'll run you about $30.

This would be something else colored! Very gritty, real world impression of those RMs! MM3 was, incidentally, my first Megaman game. What was it that drove me to win? ...I did, eventually. MM1 always crushed me. Still does.

But it was SO worth it to beat MM3.

These guys are tangible. That's a sure sign you've got skill. ^^

I'm glad you like it! I'm planning on coloring these guys in the near future, as well as their "ultimate" form I posted a moment ago.

Wow, nice line art! I like Magnet Man and Spark Man! Is Top Man balancing on top of Needle Man's head?

The perspective looks really sharp. Very cool take on the MM3 bosses.

Variable-Edge In reply to Design-Escape [2010-11-04 09:03:23 +0000 UTC]

That's right, Top Man is balancing all right, though he's not quite comfortable with it!

Thanks much! I got inspiration from the classic designs, and added some action figure inspired articulation to add parts and details.

What can I say? Ninjas are cool, but robot ninjas ROCK, man.

>bangs head on desk<

Anyway, Topman was fun because in my interpretation, he can balance himself on practically any place (like Needleman's head), even when he's dizzy as all heck. o_O

My personal favorites from MM2 were Crash Man (Killer Driller Arms, yeah!) and Quick Man (mostly from his stage, since I actually got past those damn force beams without having to rely on the Flash Stopper, but I also love his design).

MM2 will always be my favorite when it comes to the stage music. Characters and gameplay aside, the series always hit the right spot when it came to sounds!
